+307 It must be weird to be a teacher of evolution at a catholic school, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, because they totally teach evolution at catholic school. (that was sarcasm by the way)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They do, I went to a Catholic school. They just kinda say, "this is the theory of evolution, but still beleive what's in the bible".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's important to have an understanding of both. Otherwise you can't have an intelligent debate about it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well that's probably why they're forced to teach it. I don't think that they would if they had the choice haha.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah they do. I am at a Catholic middle school and that is the first thing we learned in World History. None of us beleive it though.

I went to a catholic high school and we spent an entire week learning everything about evolution and like 10 minutes on Creationism. Many Catholics, not all of them, believe God created everything to evolve.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or any other Christian religious school...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've never heard of a private high school for protestants.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

there definitely are...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

actually i go to a catholic school and they do teach it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Catholic Schools here in Ireland and the UK teach that evolution is true and combatible with catholic beliefs

by Anonymous 13 years ago

{I go to Catholic School} My science teacher, at the beginning of the lesson, just said 'You go to a catholic school, you might believe the story of creation or you might believe this. However, you're required to learn it. And it's just a theory'.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You mean like the theory of gravity?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, the theory of evolution.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This makes no sense because the Catholic church is open to the theory of evolution, we just believe that God created the first thing. You can't evolve from nothing. My teacher is a nun also and she supports this

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I do not believe in evolution. I do not believe that God created things to evolve. I do believe that it is important to know both sides of the argument. There is nothing worse than an argument with an ignorant person.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Says the person who doesn't believe in evolution.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I go to a Catholic school. We've never learned evolution. They straight up told us the story of creation, the garden of Eden, etc. weren't real, it's just symbolism.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I go to a catholic school. We've just spent the last 2 weeks or so in my geography class learning about evolution and the big bang theory. We're being taught to believe the theories and God both work together. We've been told so many times you're not supposed to take the bible literally, and it's not just my school.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i go to a mostly protestant private christian highschool, and we did study evolution, and wrote a paper over our views regarding evolution at the end. Not all private christian schools are catholic, and we're not all closed minded idiots either.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You beat me to it with that comment =)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

im cathlic. i believe in evolution. like someone said, life couldnt have come from nothing. I do hate people who think that life is a chemical reation. those ppl are annoying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I go to a Catholic high school and my Biology teacher taught evolution as a theory. She didn't say that Creationism is right, nor did she say that believing in evolution is wrong; she just sinply stated the facts in a scientific manner. Even my religion teachers teach that the creation story is symbolic, not literal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Catholics believe in evolution. They aren't some freaky cult that doesn't accept logic and reason.
