+533 It's ok to be gay. Some of the most influential people were/are gay like Harvey Milk, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dumbledore. amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yes because Ellen is such a great person to emulate! And just a heads up, Dumbledore isn't gay. Rowling made that up for attention, and I lost respect for her. He doesn't act gay, insinuate he's gay, or tell anyone he's gay. He doesn't have a sexual preference. He's a fictional character.

I think Dumbledore is not gay too... But he has a tendency to prefer being with men to women. He doesn't and shouldn't have any form of non-platonic feelings for men. When Rowling announced it I died a little :(

--' "He doesn't and shouldn't have any form of non-platonic feelings for men." Don't tell me that's not a blatantly homophobic statement. Scrantoncity: J. K. Rowling made Dumbledore. She's the only one who truly knows everything about him - if she think he's gay, he IS gay. And you don't need to act stereotypically gay to prefer members of your own sex.

(Slayer Of Stupidity): Could't agree more. There is nothing wrong with Ellen and Harvey Milk was a very influential person as well. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Also gay people arn't always stereotypically gay

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Slayer Of Stupidity): No, when I said "he should not" I'm trying to say as Dumbledore, he shouldn't be the kind of person who would be romantically/sexually involved in any person from any gender.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Slayer Of Stupidity): Really, what is there to know more of about a fictional character? If it isn't in the books, it's untrue. Imagine if rowling suddenly announced that this was all a dream of Peter Pettigrew. That'd be preposterous; there's nothing to support that. Yet, it's her fantasy world so her rules go. Just saying, Dumbledore isn't gay. He doesn't have a sexual preference. Because it's not in the books.

It's her books, it's her canon. Simple logic would tell you that. Also, if you really believes that only what's written in the books is the true canon - then, my friend, I believe you may suffer from Fan Myopia.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Slayer Of Stupidity): Really? So Tolkien could say he was wrong, and his entire series is based on aliens reading human's minds? Some things are unnecessary, and untrue. Dumbledore's being gay is one of them.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yep, he could, because it's his books. You can decide to like them or not, but it would be canon.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

(Slayer Of Stupidity): So basically you're saying a writer can do that? Like Stephenie Meyer? Inconsistencies and crap plots? No. Rowling would have to write another book.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

No, I'm not saying that. I personally wouldn't like your examples, and would probably not like the author either - but everyone has their own taste, and just because you don't like something in a novel, doesn't mean that it's not canon.

uhh.... She made the whole book up... I think she "make up" that dumbledore is gay if she wants lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

almost all of the great renaissance artists are rumored to be gay.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The whole point of this post was to say being gay isnt bad and all you idiots are focused on dumbledore >_<

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Your selection of people where all wrong. I love Harry potter as much as the next person, but there's so many more to choose from

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is nothing wrong with homosexual attractions but those people aren't really influential. I doubt if the movie Milk came out most people out of the California Bay Area would know who Harvey Milk is. And sure Ellen is hilarious but how influential is she really? You should've gone with Michaelangelo, there's a confirmed gay man who actually has a large impact.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And what about Andy Warhol? RIDICULOUSLY influential. ...Sounds a bit odd when next to Michelangelo, but, still.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I guess, I don't really know too much about his work.

I <3 Ellen

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The fact that you included a fictional character as an influential person made me No Way this.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ellen is not influential at all.
