-228 Ignoring the religious aspect of homosexuality and looking at it from an evolutionary standpoint, it's still wrong, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually, penguins and bats have high rates of homosexuality.

As do dolphins and even bonobos, which are primates.

it's okay, they are removing themselves from the genepool.

Evolution is about spreading your genes, helping your siblings spread theirs helps spreading yours.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Which is why I'm guessing the OP said it was "wrong." Because if evolution is about spreading your genes and you by your preferences cannot it is incorrect, by matter of survival of the fittest. Which is an argument why homosexuality cannot be passed genetically, because you'd have to be heterosexual to pass it on.

Every living thing that is not asexual has homosexual organisms in its population.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You have a point, but, I'm willing to bet that those homosexual tendencies give way to primal instinct to reproduce, which then makes them bisexual

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I choose the social and humanity standpoint. Also, in modern times, we're extremely over-populated. People have sex and not reproducing because of it is actually a plus.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

funny how if this post just said homosexuality is wrong, it would get like 90% of people voting it down. but since it said ignoring the religious aspect, all the atheists who are against homosexuality but hate religion vote it up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Evolution doesn't have a set of rules like religions do, so nothing from "an evolutionary standpoint" can be wrong as there are no rules to break.

Really? Are some of you guys against gay peole?!?!?!?!!?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Btw, I have gay friends, so none of my comments here are anti-gay, just pointing out facts and opinions

by Anonymous 13 years ago

no, the ability to reproduce is key, not that they must use it. plus, fire is a classic example of something that reproduces without being alive.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Rats turn gay when the food to population level is unstable. If anything we need more gays.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

When people are stressed the population of gay children rises, there is a link between gay population and overpopulation in general. So in an evelutionary standpoint homosexuality isnt wrong it just prevents overpopulation. This is just a theory, but i figured ill just say it...

Ehh the poster worded it badly. They aren't saying homosexuality is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE >:0 !! They're saying that as far as reproducing and ya evolving goes, homosexuality doesn't follow it. That's all. You can't really disagree with this, it's basically a fact.
