+163 All of this breast cancer awareness stuff is kind rediculous. i mean who isnt aware of breast cancer? now if it were fundraising for research that would be different but awareness? really? amirite?

Like I said, for most teens and kids who don't have a very close relative with breast cancer, it falls to the back of the mind.

most kids and teens arent in a position to donate money for research so why does it matter?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The awareness is important so women and men know about the issue and learn that it's a common cancer that if caught early can be successfully treated. It also encourages people to check themselves for lumps and get mammograms.

yeah but everybody knows that. whats the point in "raising awareness" of something we already know about?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well if everyone knew about it why do heaps of people still die from not getting checked?

*ridiculous

If you don't like it, don't buy it. Many of the programs that are for 'awareness' donate all of their proceeds to breast cancer research. I could see if you would be complaining about some advertisement or product, but breast cancer is a very real and very common (for its threat level) disease.

i know its real and junk. and i know most of the money from all this stuff goes to research. but why dont they call it what it really is instead of calling it breast cancer awareness? and i dont see what the big deal is. i mean they've already cured it if you catch it early and it doesnt spread to other parts of your body. as long as you do your monthly examination, you should be all good.

Yeah thats why they want to raise awareness. Not everyone goes for monthly checkups. They can cure it if you catch it early, but over 40,000 women still die from it every year.
