When you hear a 13 year old say "I'm not a kid anymore" you kind of want to slap them, amirite?

Or when they're 12 and say "I'm practically a teenager" like that's going to all the sudden make me think they're mature

In a way, 13/14 year olds aren't really kids anymore, but only in the sense that if they act like kids, their friends might make fun of them. And wouldn't it be kind of weird to see someone that age playing in a playground among 5 year olds, or playing with toys? I'm 14 (but only just), and I'd quite like to think that I was still a kid, but really, it would just not feel right... Though it's definitely true that legally, 13/14 would still be a kid/child/minor or whatever you'd like to call it. :P

I think the point the OP was making wasn't that they are still children, but that it's annoying when they want to think they're adults

Yuch, I'm 13, but I hate how people wanna grow up so fast...like, being a kid was fun, and being a teenager sucks! I still play like a little kid, no matter how mature I actually am. HOLD ON TO YOUR YOUTH! Cuz, you can't have it forever...

Yet my parents try to treat me like I'm older and say, "You're a young adult!" That's funny because I'm not enough legally old enough to have a job yet.

I'm 14 and I KNOW I'm more mature than most 16 year olds. I don't want to get treated like an adult, at all. But I hate it when my parents treat me like I'm 2.

Ummm, no. Because I know for a fact I am. Some of them act like little retarded children. Everybody tells me I'm WAY mature for my age. I'm not saying all of them are more immature than me, but I'm certainly more mature then some of them.

Ughhh HATE. Every teacher & adult starts putting pressure on them to accept all kinds of new responsibilities, due to the fact that they are now "young adults", but they never get any respect cause they're still "children". They're not kids anymore. If people lose respect for them, it shouldn't be because of their age, but because of their actions.
