-227 Community college is for losers, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well let's see...community college students save a lot of money while getting an equal education that a university would provide for freshmen and sophomore level course, and sometimes even a better education with one-on-one professor/student relationships. Also many of them transfer out to big universities. Sounds like a win to me ;)

You don't get the same education a university would provide for freshmen and sophomores. MIT and Harvard freshman and sophomore courses are simply incomparable to community college freshman and sophomore courses both in terms of subject matter and in-depth exploration. Also, community college student indeed transfer out to big universities, but you're not going to find an Ivy League student that had previously attended a community college.

That's what I did. The plan was to attend community college for two years and then transfer to the main campus, but after 1 and a half years I saw it was super easy and I was doing well, so I transferred early. I did notice a lot of stupid people though... the type who acted like they were still in high school. They only lasted about a year.

Yes, community college is for losers who are living in denial of the fact that they completely fail at life and will never truly progress anywhere. Most employers couldn't care less about Associate Degrees.

I dunno, Community makes it seem pretty cool. Although seriously, I agree with KatTKD.

Anonymous is for losers.

This is the first time I've ever thought of the possibility of a hate button.

'Anonymous' OP probably didn't even graduate high school.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure if he dropped out of high school he wouldn't be mocking people going to community college. It's just common sense.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

People on here love to make such bold assumptions about things. Your certainty doesn't make it any more probable. OP could just as well have dropped out of high school and, now realising what a stupid mistake he made, made this post to express his jealousy and frustration at those who go to community college.

Yes because saving thousands of dollars totally makes me a loser.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why anonymous?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Have fun being in debt forever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's not for losers, but personally I don't want to go to one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hmmmm... let's go down the list to see what makes a person a loser. 4 year degree? No. Community college? No. High school degree? No. High school drop out with GED? No. High school drop out with no GED and no plans on doing anything with their life except mooch off of mommy and daddy? Yes. College isn't for everyone and if you're smart, pay attention, and have a good work ethic, you can be successful with just a high school degree or even being a high school drop out. The thing that makes it seem like people with GEDs aren't successful is that the majority of them lacked the ambition to further do anything with their life; and so they didn't. However, there are a few who have the ambition and realize that they can educate themselves with the resources they have around them. That and determination is what separates them from the rest.

What the hell is wrong with community college? I'm gonna go ahead and guess that you're a prick, amirite? I think as long as a person makes an effort to get a good education, who the hell cares what kind of college it came from? Also, not everybody can afford to go to a bigger college. I know plenty of people who went to community college or just a trade school or something and they are very successful. It's people like you that motivate them to succeed. So, blah Mr. Anonymous who wrote the post.

Lol, you're a douche. That was my first thought after reading this.

What is community college?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

As a four-year university student, I disagree.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not all of us have mommies and daddies that are willing to pay $40,000 a semester. Community college is a good option because you can go there for two years, save money and get your grades up, and then transfer to the university of your choice, where you can subsequently get your degree from.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's what student loans and scholarships are for.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's pretty damn hard to get a full scholarship nowadays. And you do realize that you eventually have to pay back student loans?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Other than people who can't afford state universities, community college is for losers! I'm not even saying it's for stupid people. Smart people probably go there because they were too lazy to get their butts off their couch in HS
