+116 Having an abortion because the baby will have a disease is like killing someone because they're gonna die anyways. 'Oh, hey you're old. You're gonna die anyways so...*pulls trigger*, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ever heard of assisted suicide? Tons of ppl kill themselves because they're gonna die. And I'm not gonna let some retard live like a parasite in my body if I don't want too.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

While the phrasing of this is quite offensive, I agree with the content of what you've said.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with you, but I generally don't like to call people retards.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Assisted suicide is illegal, just so you know. And really? You're going to kill YOUR baby, your child, just because it has a disease? Let's say he/she's perfectly fine. And then, when he/she turns 3, they get cancer. Are you just going to shoot him/her?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Have you heard of tay-sachs? probly not. It is a congenital syndrome in which the child lives no longer than 5 years usually. Always ends in death, the childs nervous system slowly shuts down. It is a slow painful death, being aborted would be more painless. Definitely not the same as shooting a 3 year old that gets cancer.

Well if the kid was going to die after like 5 days, or something... Or if they'd live for a couple of years, but they'd be suffering all the time, or just not really living, like in intensive care or life support all the time... It would make sense then...

google tay-sachs

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is NOTHING like that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If they're not born it's not really going to matter either way.

My cousin was born with a lot of problems. The doctors told his parents from the begining to abort. Really though, they met in rehab, and were both still doing crank when she concieved...the doctors didn't give him 24 hours once he was born...when he made that they gave him 3 days...a week...less than a month...he made it about 3 months. Its was horrible. He had so many tubes and crap in him..and when it finally happened our family shattered. Its been 10 years and thinking about it now is bringing me to tears.

No it's not like that, I see where your coming from but when people have an abortion it because they know they can't cope or deal with the baby, or because they can't afford it. It's awful, but its sometimes the kindest thing to do if that child is just going to grow up in a bad environment anyway? I should know, my best friend has just had one. She was distraught but though its awful to say; it was the kindest thing.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree. It's like, sometimes, that is the kinder thing to do than let them grow up a painful life, one they might not survive(in the case of them having a diesease).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about adoption? Wouldnt that be the kinder, ideal thing instead of killing the baby?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I dont think people would be jumping up to adopt a deathly sick baby. Adoption is a good option to consider, but some people cant carry a child for 9 months and just give it away. Some people can not afford the pre-natal care/hospital bills that is necessary to deliver a healthy baby.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If the baby is actually getting adopted, then the adoptive family would have to pay for the pre natal and hospital bills.

I don't think you understand the concept of quality of life. If you were carrying a child that would be born with physical or mental disabilities, would you see it as fair to bring that child into the world, one that would live out it's life in pain? Likewise, with women who fall pregnant that would be unable to sufficiently care for their child. It is all based around the infant's best interests and quality of life. That is the reason we have abortions. However, what I don't agree with, is the people that don't bother with birth control and just get abortions when they fall pregnant.

they don't do it because it will die, because ALL babies will die and you don't kill all babies. a disease makes life awful and why have them suffer for 70-80 years if you can just stop it from happening in the first place. not to mention those diseases that make life very vulnerable and make the child die at any sudden moment, would you rather the parents have the sadness of losing a fetus or a 5-year-old son whom they've grown to love very much?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

While I see your point, I don't think it is quite the same as killing somebody who is old. While that older person had (probably) lived a happy and healthy life, not aborting a child with a disease would be bringing a child into a world already starting with many problems and quite possibly pain. There is no right or wrong answer for everything- it depends on each case- but I don't think you can compare it to killing a person because they're old.

Doctors said I would be born mentally and physically handicapped. Luckily, they did more tests and found out that I was actually gonna be fine, my parents were really relieved as they had no idea if they should abort me. But to be honest, I think that if the tests had shown that I was gonna be seriously ill, I would rather my mother would have had an abortion. I wouldn't have wanted her to go through all that suffering and giving up work for me, struggling to make ends meet whilst getting me care... I would rather she just ended it before I had the chance to ruin my parents' lives.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If your mum got an abortion, you would have been re-born somewhere else. Thats they way I look at it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

However, people do kill old people because they are going to die, although you hear it happening to dogs much more often. While it isn't called that for people, people do "put the dog down" quite often.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

isnt that what Dr Kevorkian was known for? He helped terminal patients commit suicide

by Anonymous 13 years ago

situations like that are soooo rare. And since a state home will make more money off keeping a kid in horrible abusive conditions their whole lives they make actually adopting a baby like that super expensive and just an all around hard process. Over 90% of kids in adoption homes spend their entire lives there. With people who mentally sexually and physically abuse them. In HORRIBLE disgusting conditions worse than a family in poverty. Then when they're 18 they're thrown out into the world with nothing. That is, the ones that make it that far. Do you know how high the suicide rate for kids in adoption homes is? And the few that do make it out turn to drugs and crime, because they have nothing else. In all honesty, the heartless thing to do is put a baby up for adoption. Unless you're a rare exception to statistics and have a loving family paying for everything and waiting for that baby. Its the sad horrible truth.

What's funny is that this is totally serious, and the only reason I'm commenting on this is because it is 'anyway', not 'anyways'. Silly goose.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thats what i do with old people
