Cause Everyone wants to listen about emo adults who should be doing something productive "sing" about cutting themselves and wanting to die. And it's pop that's dominating. Do a little research.

OHOHO. Music is subjective. Death Metal just has the advantage of being one of the most technically complex genres of all time.

That doesn't make it pleasant to listen to by a wide range of listeners. If you can't accomplish that you will never take over. I'm not saying it can't be enjoyable, although I don't usually expand beyond Thrash metal in terms of the metal genre, I'm just saying the majority of death metal songs are not pleasing to the average person. It doesn't help that the lyrics can be so violent and extreme.
