I think this would help a little, but some people are pedophiles and don't want to have sex with adults -given the opportunity.

History Fun Fact: Before the Council of Trent in the 16th century, the rule of celibacy was a joke. Priests would walk around the neighboorhood with their prostitutes and six illegitamite children and everyone would just be like "What's up Father? How's the prostitute doin'? Aw, the kids are growing up so fast! Well, see you at church!"

Not all priests are peadophiles, in fact its the very small minority. They accept that becoming celibate is part of cardinal law. You can't change an ancient tradition based on the whims of modern life. It is very unfair that you generalize all Catholic Priests as peadophiles. I am a Catholic and an alter server and every priest I have encountered has been beyond nice to me.

If this is true, than why are there child molesters who aren't priests? Who can have sex with other adults? I can almost guarantee that 90 % of the people who clicked YYA aren't even Catholic, because if they were they would know that the reason priests aren't supposed to have sex is because it is a sin to have sex outside of marriage. Priests can't get married because they are devoting their lives to God and the Church. So even single people, regular people, aren't supposed to have sex. At least if you follow the teachings of the Catholic Church. Getting rid of fornication as a sin isn't going to stop the fact that some people are sick monsters who hurt children. They aren't MOLESTING CHILDREN because they can't have sex, they're molesting children because they're SICK CHILD MOLESTERS. If they were gonna break their vow of celibacy because they want to have sex why would they do it with a child when they could do it with an adult? It's happened before. Because, they're sick.

Statistics show more protestant ministers molest children than Catholic priests. The only reason you hear about the Catholic priest molesters is because Catholics are all over the world while many protestant dominations are very centralized. (Catholic means universal for a reason.) Most protestant religions, if not all, allow their minsters to get married and have children. When the few priests molest children, it isn't about the celibacy rule, it is the fact that they are pedophiles.
