+387 The people that work at prisons are angels and better be paid a ton. They're risking their life (some prisoner could beat you up), it's scary and people would constantly be yelling at them. Amirite?

Their biggest complaint is having human shit thrown at them.

I think that "risking their lives" is a bit of an overstatement...

Not always.

Every job has some risk in it even being a teacher you never know when some kid is going to stab you.

My cousin works as a prison guard and broke his ankle while trying to restrain a prisoner.

Not the Shawshank Redemption prison people, they were bad

by Anonymous 13 years ago

you're exaggerating a bit i think..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know about the "angels" part but yeah they should be paid decently...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

some prison guards at female prisons use to rape the women back in the day, not all of them are "angels"

Prison guards are actually kinda douchebags for the most part. Psychological studies have shown that the exaggerated sense of self-importance brought on by the dominance over other, caged human beings causes them to become overly authoritarian and sadistic in many cases. If you don't believe me, look up the Stanford Prison experiment.

I was going to say this, but thank you for covering it for me. :) Yes, what he said, prison guards tend to be or turn sadistic over time.

Great minds think alike : )

I don't necessarily disagree, but the Stanford prison experiment was very exaggerated. And the guards were basically told to be mean to the prisoners.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They were told to assert authority, no different than guards in real life and the methods they used to do so were mostly of their own making, so I'm not really sure how it was exaggerated.

*police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and the like are angels and better be paid a ton. They're risking their life (daily, multiple times per day), its scary, and their lives are constantly in danger. There, that's better.

the repetition is on purpose for emphasis, btw
