+215 It is estimated that 25% of drivers who die in auto accidents cause them subconsciously as "autocide," a form of suicide. People are so depressed now that they are SUBCONSCIOSLY killing themselves? That's terrible, amirite?

What study is this from?

I'd like to know how they are able to tell if someone's subconscious killed them. Especially since nobody could ask them, since they're dead and all.

I feel its totally made up because it's 25% and that just seems too rounded up and nice. If it were 23% or 27% maybe...

note that they did say estimated... not necessarily exactly 25%.

***Spoiler Alert*** This reminds me of Looking for Alaska by John Green. It's such an interesting topic.

How is that a spoiler?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's the end of the book. For anyone who would want to read it, I've just given away the ending. Whoops.

Ohh, you mean that it's a spoiler for the book Looking for Alaska. But people wouldn't know what the spoiler was about unless they read the entire thing, and they wouldn't just assume it was for that book.

Ah, but they would. If you'd just started the book and you saw my comment (even if it didn't say "spoiler alert"), you'd think "Wait, what does autocide have to do with Looking For Alaska? . . . Oh shit, someone dies at the end!". And you wouldn't even be able to wonder who dies, because there's really only one character for whom autocide would make sense.
