+277 Is fire a solid, liquid, gas, plasma, or what? amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gas. The visible flames are anyways.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Cool, thanks. :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I quickly double checked this. According to the eggheads at Wikipedia- "If a fire is hot enough to ionize the gaseous components, it can become a plasma."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gas

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fire isn't a form of matter though, it's a byproduct of the reaction between other matter. So, D: None of the above.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Flames are made out of reacting gases, so fire is matter.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

This is true. I was thinking about the heat and light part of fire, which is energy.

Oohhhhh my goodddds. *BRAIN EXPLODES*!

You should never, ever use wikipedia as a reliable source of information.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know that you're getting the best possible information.

My fellow Nazi! ;D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well I did check Wikipedia, and honestly the only time you shouldn't trust it is when it doesn't cite its sources. However, in the places where it doesn't cite the information it usually says "citation needed", so that's a sign that you shouldn't trust that particular piece of information.

Really wikipedia is a great source. have you ever tried to changed something to inccorect information? they have mods that fix things when that happens. Not too mention, most of the time they do have sources listed. But you should never just use wikipedia alone, I mean at least check your information as you would with any website.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I had to change something to make it correct once on something about the beatles. :U see, the mods don't check everything. and i saw another incorrect article on wikipedia. but yeah, for the most part its correct.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well most of it is, I just mean its reliable as a source but dont just use it and call it a day. Check out some other places as well.

Are you a teacher? No offense if you're not, but you sound like one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hmm...I've always been told by my chemistry teachers that fire is a plasma. I guess not.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

teaching fail

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Indeed. All my teachers sucked.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fire is what happens when tings go boom. :) kthxbai

xD

Fire is not a gas, it is not a solid, it is not a liquid. it is a reaction, it is combustion, it is not tangeable, therefore it is not matter.

^This

by Anonymous 13 years ago

who said it has to be tangible to be matter?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think it's tangible though. I'm probably wrong because I'm an 8th grader just guessing, but if you touch fire and you burn yourself doesn't that make it tangible? Like I thought intangible things were like, happiness.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fire is a tangible chemical reaction. Not intangible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I think you might have made mixed up URLs. I believe the website you are looking for is called Yahoo Answers.

Who cares?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What is this? YouTube?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's none of those. It's a chemical reaction.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Fire is a chemical reaction in process. It's like sublimation, boiling, freezing, rusting, etc. And yes, it is tangible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Gas.
