my friend's name is sara, pronounced "sah-ruh." she has fun explaining it every time she meets someone.

My name is Ryki, and people constantly spell it Ricky. and some people mistake me for being a foreigner, especially since my name is spelled uniquely.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or when people complicate the spelling much more than they have to. My name's Megan and one time somebody said 'So that's M-e-a-g-h-e-a-n right?' No.

It's even worse when you've known someone for a long time and they continue to call you by the wrong name.

I hate it when this happens. I teach an archery class and the coordinator for it calls me Olivia (which isn't even close to my name) even though I've known her for 7 years now.

You teach archery? SA-WEET!

Stephany > Stephanie. How motherfucking hard is it to drop the 'ie' and add a 'y'? -.- this happens to me frequently, as you can see.

I never really cared that much if someone spells my name wrong the first time. I mean, we can't expect everyone in the world to memorize all spelling of names and be able to tell your exact spelling just by looking at you, but if it happens frequently, I tend to get annoyed, but you can always use fun mnemonic devices to help people remember.

My name is Kaitlyn, but everyone spells it like "Caitlin". I wouldn't mind this, because Caitlin is the most common way of spelling it, so why would they think to spell it any differently? But I went to go pick up some information today for something I'd signed up for earlier, and it had a sticker with my name on it. Spelt like Caitly. I mean seriously? Not even an n?

I grade 3 some fool always spelt my name 'Divad'
