It was actually a good thing Harry was a horcrux. It allowed him to speak parseltounge and get into the chamber. If he hadn't gone into the chamber Ginny would have died, amirite?

If Harry wasn't a horcrux, Voldemort would have won. The reason that Harry dies near the end of the seventh book is to save everybody else, but if he were to have died and not be a horcrux, he would have stayed dead instead of just killing the horcrux inside of him. Since he was the only one who could kill Voldemort, the book would have been a tragedy.

he was not able to come back because he was a horcrux he was able to come back because voldemort took his blood with Lily's protection, which made voldemort unable to kill him.

If Harry wan't a Horcrux then he either would've just been killed as a baby, or Voldemort would have never attacked his family in the first place. He may have lived a happy, scar-free life as just another Hogwarts student who may or may not have befriended Ron and Hermione. Someone else (Neville?) would have defeated Voldemort, or perhaps no one at all. Yeah, perhaps Voldemort took over the world, then Harry probably would have been raised as a muggle-torturing Death Eater slave (or maybe a rebel in the underground Order of the Phoenix). ...Wow, at first my point was to say that the story wouldn't have been very interesting if he weren't a Horcrux, but now I'm kind of interested in this story, too. Point-proving fail. (Possibly a new story idea win?)

Harry only became a Horcrux after Voldemort failed to kill him. The failure of the killing curse turned him into a horcrux. He wasn't already one when Voldemort came after him and his parents.

But if Harry wasn't a horcrux... Let's just say Voldy didn't attack him and went for Neville. Since Neville's parents loved him so the same thing would happen to him like what happened to Harry... Neville could have opened the chamber of secrets and saved Ginny. (Neville can gather up the courage. He's in Gryffindor, remember?)

But would Lucius Malfoy have chosen to give Ginny the diary if they weren't with Harry that day at Diagon Alley? He might have, since his decision was mostly based on his personal grudge with Arthur, but still. If Draco weren't teasing Harry (which led to the fight between Arthur and Lucius) then Ginny probably never would have ended up with the diary in the first place.

Ok let's just say the girl wasn't Ginny and the plans were still the same, I think Lucius would have targeted someone close to Neville too. Neville could have saved whoever it might have been, no? Harry and Neville are pretty easy to be replaced by each other...

But I don't think Lucius targeted Ginny because he was close to harry, but because he was close to Arthur, so in this scenerio if Harry had never exsisted then Lucius would have STILL have given the book to Ginny because of his dislike of Arthur. Therefore i dont think Lucious would have targeted anyone close to Neville if he was the "chosen one". And then you gotta remember that in books 1-4 Neville was a pretty big wuss, I honestly doubt he could have summoned the courage to save Ginny.

I don't know... If Neville could man up in the last books due to circumstances I think he could have in the earlier books. Remember in Scorcerer's Stone where he stood up to Harry, Ron and Hermione and told them they couldn't go out the dormitory? Yes, it would DEFINITELY take him a much longer time than Harry though.

Perhaps Neville could have, eventually stood up to voldemort. But i think Voldemort chose the best man to defeat him, though he did not know it. Harry was brave in ways I doubt Neville could have been.

Hey you guys, did you know that Rowling said there's a possibility that she could write another Harry Potter book ( she said this on the Oprah show) I think thats friggen amazing, though I can't see where she could take the story, and i think it had a great ending, I would definately love some more Harry potter :)
