So my Geometry teacher put on an Indian hat when she told us about the volcano of SOHCAHTOA....
by Anonymous13 years ago
that's kinda funny
by Anonymous13 years ago
mine too! but she was also crazy and made us call her indian sohcahtoa for the rest of class.
by Anonymous13 years ago
hahaha my physics teacher made us drum our desks as he enlightened us with the legend of SOHCAHTOA...

Anyone who votes this down should automatically be banned from amirite for failure to finish 8th grade.
by Anonymous13 years ago
What the hell are you smoking i'm in 10th grade and i've never heard of this in my life.Ever thought that in other countries they don't teach this?
by Anonymous13 years ago
well then other countries FAIL.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Please don't be american...
by Anonymous13 years ago
...why? D:
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well saying that other countries fail...kind part of the american stereotype
by Anonymous13 years ago
not really...? I don't know many americans who say that and actually mean it.
I was just kidding. Meanie D: </3
by Anonymous13 years ago
Of course you don't know many americans who say that it's a stereotype it's usually not true but still pretty funny.
I was kidding also and i'm not a meanie :(.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Oh. Truuuuueeeee.
Ok I'm sorry :( <333 have some interbrownies. There's nothing in them or anything *cough*
by Anonymous13 years ago
To help with your problem H stands for Sine equals Opposite over Hypotenuse.
CAH stands for Cosine equals Adjacent over Hypotenuse.
TOA stands for Tangent equals Opposite over Adjacent.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I learned ''Tommy On A Ship Of His Caught A Heron''.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I have no clue what it stands for either. I'm in the tenth grade two!
by Anonymous13 years ago
@747661 (Anonymous): well you obviously shouldn't be if your'e in tenth grade two
by Anonymous13 years ago
Sorry, typo. *Too. Oh yeah it's you're not your'e. Maybe you should check your own grammar before you talk about someone else's.
by Anonymous13 years ago
my mistake was a simple one
Yours was one we learnt in year 2
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's not like I don't know the difference, I made a simple mistake JUST LIKE YOU. If you really would like to get picky with grammar, then "my" should be capitalized, there should be a period after "one" and "2" should be spelled out and a period should finish the sentence. Pretty sure I learned how to use periods in at least grade one.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Bloody hell
http://www.andreasschwartz.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/arguingontheinternet.jpg
why does 2 have to be spelled out?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Because you spelt out one. In English, there is supposed to be balance, it's supposed to be one or the other. Look, this is getting stupid and I'm done if you are. Agreed?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah I'm just bored.
I'm pretty sure you don't say "My mistake was a simple 1".
Yeah enough now (Find a mistake in that :P).
by Anonymous13 years ago
i'm australian and i learnt it
by Anonymous13 years ago
One of the funniest maths classes I've ever had was about SOHCAHTOA. Go you! :)
by Anonymous13 years ago
Why didn't anyone teach me this? It would have made geometry so much easier!
by Anonymous13 years ago
What's SOCAHTOA? (7th grader, didn't learn this yet xD)
by Anonymous13 years ago
sin of an angle = opposite side/hypothenuse, cos of an angle = adjacent side/hypothenuse, tan of an angle = opposite/adjacent
by Anonymous13 years ago
We learned it as : some old hippie caught another hippie tripping on acid
by Anonymous13 years ago
that's how are dumbass TA told us to remember it haha
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah, in science our "assistant teacher" or whatever taught us that. It's pretty stupid, but I still remember it at least haha
by Anonymous13 years ago
our* ._.
by Anonymous13 years ago
S=y/r
C=x/r
T=y/x
Sir Coxer Ticks
SOHCAHTOA will mean nothing to you in Pre-Calculus.
At least not in mine
Sorry
by Anonymous13 years ago
Fucking Calculus almost killed me. I dropped it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Okay, I took Pre-Calc, and I have no idea what that is. I feel like a tard.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's probably just my teacher
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, I have math issues too, so it might just be me. Who knows.
by Anonymous13 years ago
@734643 (ryry67dude): We have this in my class but in my head I use SOHCAHTOA
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm taking precal right now.. and i think he's talking about the unit circle, with the x as the line on the x-axis, the y as the line on the y-axis, and r being the radius.
by Anonymous13 years ago
yeah, pre-calc has nothing to do with trigonometry. even in regular calculus, you don't really use this unless you're doing stuff with integrals or related rates or something.
by Anonymous13 years ago
okay i'm in pre cal and i use SOH CAH TOA at least once a chapter.
by Anonymous13 years ago
i use that and SOHCAHTOA. it just depends what problem it is. both are helpful.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's the exact same thing... Sorry.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I have a trigonemtry test tomorrow. Thank for reminding me that I need to study :P
Sohcahtoa will be helpful throughout your lifetime, pre- calc and beyond to calculus.
by Anonymous13 years ago
After my friends and I learned this, we marched around her neighborhood yelling, "SOHCAHTOA SOHCAHTOA" pretending it was some sacred chant. When I saw this, I about screamed.
by Anonymous13 years ago
hahah sacred chant

I learned this in algebra in 7th grade... that was a hilarious math class. What was even better though was when we were learning about SSS, SAS, AAS, and ASA congruence postulates, cause people kept talking about the ASS postulate by accident.
by Anonymous13 years ago
saved me in physics
by Anonymous13 years ago
Trig sux why would u post this?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Your spelling sucks why would you post this?
by Anonymous12 years ago
hey im learning this now!
by Anonymous13 years ago
We learned it as some old hippy came around here trippin on acid
by Anonymous13 years ago
I read "Pocahontas" at first ...
by Anonymous13 years ago
My physics teacher will take off 10% of your grade if you write said word on your paper. I voted it down because then there would be proof of me using it.
Oh, and it's kind of like counting on your fingers, it's okay when you first learn addition/trig, but after a while just memorize it so you don't look like an idiot.
by Anonymous13 years ago
OH, Geometry.
SOH - Sin opposite over hypotenuse
CAH - Cos adjacent over hypotenuse
TOA - Tan opposite over adjacent
I'm proud to remember this.
by Anonymous13 years ago

by Anonymous13 years ago
Wow, that sucks. Everyone is talking about how they had so much fun learning about this. We didn't. We just learned it...
by Anonymous13 years ago
Fucking hate geometry...
Now I'm in algebra 2 trig. It's worse.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Sine
Co-Sine
Tangent?
by Anonymous13 years ago
Haha, my teacher is actually Indian. so there.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I learned in school SOHCAHTOA and found it in no way funny...
by Anonymous13 years ago
This is how my geometry teacher taught it to us:
Once their was an Indian who had to ride on horseback through the forest (I forgot what the reason was, but it's not important.) Unfortunately, he rode too close a tree and hurt his foot, so he had to turn around and go back. When he got back to his tribe, he went to the medicine man to see if he could heal his foot. The medicine man gave him this advice: SOHCAHTOA (Get it? Soak-a-toa-a?)
It was very politically incorrect, but at least I remembered it...
