Of all the things that need abbreviation by a curly a, @, "at" is not one of them, amirite?

Sorry anyone, just made an actual account, so this got copied higher up. Thanks again!

It should mean "around"

We were taking notes last year and my teacher wrote, "blah blah blah @ Versailles". She then turned around and said, "That means 'around', not 'at'. At's a fucking short word and doesn't need a damn abbreviation. It means 'around' in this class, and I will only count it for 'around'. Plus, you make the circle AROUND the a, so it makes sense." Of course, this is paraphrased, but it was honestly hysterical to see her get out her anger and swear (she was usually calm) about a symbol.

That's what my Algebra teacher did last year! It seems like teachers always have problems with it.

@ should be the abbreviation for abbreviation.
by Anonymous12 years ago
So @ is an @ for @.
by Anonymous12 years ago
Yes! That is how it should be. Because @ doesn't have an @ right now.
by Anonymous12 years ago
the abbreviation of abbreviation is officially abbr. actually :P
by Anonymous12 years ago
Well that's lame. It needs to be something fancier. Thanks for crushing my dreams, dream crusher!! Jeez, can't a person just want @ to be an abbreviation for abbreviation without someone crushing their dreams by saying there is already an abbreviation for abbreviation?? I'll never love again!!!
Eh, on second thought, I think I'll be ok.

BOW DOWN BEFORE SAIGOT CRUSHER OF DREAMS, BRINGER OF CORRECT ABBR!
by Anonymous12 years ago
I will never bow before you!
However, I must keep the peace... Will you please accept my offering of an unlimited supply of turnips?
by Anonymous12 years ago
nothing like a turnip to ruin a dream.
plus they are yummy....
I accept!! shall we frolic in an un-destroyed dream while throwing correct abbreviations about us?
by Anonymous12 years ago
We shall indeed!
Although I formally reject your reality and subsitute my own, where @ is now an @ for @.
Let the frolicing begin!

Abbr is the sound a baby makes when it starts trying to talk...

At is a pretty long fucking word... I have to sound it out just to get all the letters in the right order.
by Anonymous12 years ago
I think that was invented for email. I mean, ihaveacatatyahoo.com (not that someone would use that, but just any ID that ends in "at") or whatever would get pretty confusing, so @ was invented to signify a definite break.
