+130 Apple should replace iPods no matter what you did to them, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Free market. If you drop your iPod in the toilet, then that's your own fault. Why should they pay for your own mistake?

their products are over priced yet they are the highest quality if we buy an iPod touch for such a price they should be able to fix problems such as cracked screen and all that jazzy goodness

When purchasing the iPod, you agreed that you were responsible for your iPod. The free market enables you to buy an mp3 player of similar quality at a lower price.

But from our perspective, its pretty heartbreaking to lose 300$ on an ipod touch just because you may have set it on fire a //little// bit.

Then take care of your ipod, by a second hand one, or don't get one at all, simple as that. It's not Apple's problem that people can't take care of their stuff.

If you want to avoid expenses, I suggest sticking to lighting rodents and other small animals on fire instead.

Yeah the headphone input on my itouch is messed up and I have no idea how...things like that should be repaired because it was probably a defect or something. Same with the silent button on my iphone. I can't silence my phone anymore and normally I wouldn't care but there's no way to even manually silence it. I literally have to put my phone on airplane mode to shut it up without actually turning it off.

If all that was broken right when you got it out of the box you could take it back and they would replace it, almost everything these days comes with a manufacturing warranty.

yeah but it happened out of the warranty time and my iphone is old (well not that old. it's only 2 years old but in apple time that's ancient lol I can't even find updates for my phone anymore) which is why I don't complain too much about my phone. if I really wanted to, I could buy another, but I don't use my phone enough. The problem comes in when I don't turn airplane mode off because I don't use it enough to remember. Same for my i-touch. It happened gradually and it got really messed up when I was well out of my warranty time. That warranty only lasts like 6 months or maybe a year. I can't remember for sure, it's been a long time since I've checked.

If you don't like that they cost a lot and they don't fix them, just don't get one?

My sister once dropped her phone in the toilet. The employee said he couldn't replace it and that the water was like a tumor which would spread, killing the phone. My sister, with our dad beside her said, "Oh, you don't need to explain that to us. Our dad has stage 4 colon cancer. Thanks for saying he'll die." Needless to say, the employee gave her a free replacement.

Why? You bought the product, so you're responsible for it. Apple shouldn't have any obligation to fix something that you broke yourself. That's not their fault. Yeah, they're over-priced, but buying such an over-priced item was your choice.

They found my damn sexting stash

As much as I would like to agree, I don't, because then people would be demanding free replacements over the slightest things and it would just get out of hand and Apple would lose millions.

"No! Of course we'll replace your iPod free of charge! So what if you chucked it at the wall, or sat on it? You shouldn't have to be responsible for that! In fact, we are willing to take on a monetary loss because you didn't hold on tight enough!" Two things friends: 1) there is a warranty. It covers any problems made by the manufacturer. 2) there is separate insurance you can purchase if you like. That's like saying the bank should buy you another house after yours burnt down even if you don't have insurance.

i broke the ipod because i fucked the headphone input in the top when i realized it's the closest i'll ever be to a female connector... should they still replace it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I bought a separate warrenty and it still didn't cover the accidental drowning of my iPod. I know it's a free market and crap, but come on man. They should be kind and allow at least one replacement.

My dad accidentally ran his over. True story.
