Although I agree with this, I do have to say that the Bill of Rights and Constitution were written in a different period than now, and in different circumstances. For example, the founding fathers probably didn't consider the idea of semi-automatic machine guns when they penned the second amendment. So although I agree that politicians seem to do things more on the basis of their own beliefs and that they should read the constitution a little more closely, I also think that it may be prudent to look at it from a more modern viewpoint than the 1700's. :)

Seriously, I doing know of any licence you must have to own a gun, the only thing I can think of is a concealed carry licence, which is only need to carry a pistol on your person.... No licence needed here just to own a gun, I own several...
