+191 If a girl has only used a dildo, she's still considered a virgin, amirite?

Virginity is a social construct. There is no medical or physical definition of virginity. Whether or not you've had sex is something that you define. My definition is whether I've done something sexual, with full consent from me and the other person/persons involved. Just saying this because some people might consider themselves not-virgins even though they've never had sex with another person. Or because rape victims might still consider themselves virgins, because rape and consensual sex are NEVER the same thing. And because some people define the loss of virginity as when a penis is in a vagina, but there are so many types of sex that limiting the definition of sex to penis-in-vagina intercourse just creates a hierarchy of sex acts where only penis-in-vagina intercourse is "real" sex .

Virgin = never had sex. Masturbating with a dildo =/= sex.

I may be misinformed but isn't there a hymen or something that breaks when a girl has sex? That's what I always thought was considered losing your virginity was when that broke.

The "hymen" is a myth intended to keep women in their place and scare them from exploring their sexuality. The idea that the hymen is a membrane that covers the entire vagina, which has to be "ruptured" or "broken" by the Big Mighty Penis, is NOT TRUE. The corona consists of folds of tissue inside the vaginal opening. The corona does not break or disappear. It does, however, change throughout a woman's lifetime. It can get stretched because of tampons/menstrual cups, sex toys, fingers, or a penis. Like I stated in the long comment above, virginity is a social construct, and it's up to you to decide when you consider yourself to be a person who has had sex.
