I thinks its acceptable is a singer has 1 or 2 auto tuned songs, because it is a somewhat cool effect, but if your like ke$ha or t-pain or Kanye, and that's the only thing that gives your voice talent, you need to stop.

If they were in a singing contest they shouldn't use autotune, but if it's just to entertain people, then there's nothin wrong with it. But athletes are actually competeting
