I'm from a small town and I love it. There are less people around to snoop around your shit, an endless amount of back roads to ride on, and if you just keep to yourself then nobody will know your business. And the best part of all is that living in a small town gives you an excuse to go out and see other places.

(NotSoDangerous): Yes, but, in a small town, if anyone does 'snoop around your stuff' then as soon as one person finds out your big secret, the whole town knows.

Hate my small town. Everyone knows me as "that nice young girl with the service dog." I go running, I get stopped by someone's mother asking if I'm that girl with the dog from the high school. I go to the supermarket, I get asked by the cashier if I'm that girl from the high school with the dog her neighbor was telling her about.

I hear ya! I've got keloidosis which means I have scars everywhere, and it was always "You're the girl with the scars that works at the grocery store/goes to that school/is friends with Sarah/is dating Mitch" orrr I was "Barb's sister" even though I'm the older sibling. "Hey, you're Barb's sister!" It's nice to be in a small city now and just be me lol

I don't live in a small town, more of a small city, but in my school there's this girl that I just know of as the "girl with the service dog." I feel kind of bad, but I don't know her name because she isn't in my grade and that's the easiest way to refer to her if I want to talk about her. I don't think the service dog is hers, though. I think she's just training it.

Living in los angeles, I have the big city feel. I've traveled all over the country, and the small towns I drove through were cute and happy looking, but still seemed kinda depressing. I seem so far from society in them, which bothers me... I guess I'm too used to my big city.

ive lived in both, and i hate how in small towns everyones related. and the gossip is the worst, everybody knows everything.

went from small town to city. i am SO tired of hearing sirens all the time and the light pollution is ridiculous. there's nothing soothing about the sound of cars and ambulances at all hours.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Or trains at 4am in the morning!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

exactly. I used to live in a big city. Last summer I had an old friend visit and she was absolutely amazed at how many stars you can see at night. She made me pull over just so we could watch them for awhile. I agree with the sound thing too, when I first moved people would get so freaked out when they heard sirens wondering what happened but for me I was like...I used to hear that shit once an hour before probably more back home :/

Exactly! My parents are divorced, and my mom lives in a small town and my dad lives in a city. It's really hard to adjust to one to after living in the other since they're so different!

I've lived in a small town my whole life until university started and i moved into a city, I must say, small towns are better and people are nice not assholes.

Love my small town and am extremely proud. Don Henley is from here, and nearly every month there is a live band playing at the old theatre. There are dozens of talented and fun people here and there is always something going on. Some small towns are boring and perhaps, a bit depressive, but it just takes finding one with the right character to open your eyes.

Most people who voted no way are from small towns and most who voted yeah you are are from big cities, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't know what to vote. I've never really been to a "big" city, because in NZ, there really isn't such thing. There's Auckland city which would be the closest thing, but I guess that is the best place to live. There's good sides and bad sides to both.

People who have never lived in a small town before don't know what they're missing out on... you can live in a small town and still get the big city feeling by visiting ones close by.
