what compels a person to get playdoh instead of a much cheaper bag of reese's?

If you are talking about what compels a trick or treater to get playdoh instead of a bag of reeses I would say the rarity. Almost every house you go to has candy, especially reeses. Personally, I think that I get too much candy. To see someone who has something different can be nice as it is not something you see often. If you are asking about a person who buys playdoh for trick or treaters, I do not genuinely know. It might be because they do not like candy. Usually older people give out play-doh. Perahps they want to be nice to the trick or treaters :). Personally, I usually just get candy for people who come by my house.
