+660 Most the 'signals of depression' in a health book are actually just describing the habits of a normal teenager, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Um. No. Until you've actually been afflicted with depression, don't joke about it. It's not an easy illness to live with.

Kay, get off your high horse. Cause I am afflicted with it. I have a diagnosed chemical inbalance in my brain that I take medication for. And I grew up with a father who took three medications all antidepressants, antischitzophranic, and antianxiety. I'm not joking about it, I just think that the habits listed seem normal to me maybe cause I do live with it. But apparantly other do agree, kaythanks.

YOU GOT PWNED! Besides, you're an idiot. Only a really stupid person would see that as a joke. It is a very true statement.

This is actually really offensive. the part you miss is where these symptoms are PATHOLOGICAL. As in make you unable to function.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's really not that offensive, you're just being hypersensitive.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i hate it when people do that

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not diagnosed with depression, and I've had some of these things make me unable to function.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

If you're unable to function, you're probably depressed. Or you have some other sort of mental disorder.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm not being hypersensitive. I just hate how people make light of depression. It makes it harder for those of us who have to live with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its not like he's saying "Oh boohoo you're depressed. Go cry about it you asshole. Thinking you're so special because you're depressed. The nerve of some people!" THAT would be a case in which you could get offended

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The OP isn't making light. She has an opinion, and a lot of people agree with it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So why is depression not considered normal if most teenagers fit the symptoms?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Because depression is caused by a mental condition, and not only teens get it. Also, it is more serious.
