If you can't explain something you don't know it well enough. Amirite?

Unless the person you're explaining it to is a dumbass

This is similar to the quote from Einstein.

If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.
and i think Einstein's is more accurate i mean you can know something but not understand it.

Sometimes it could mean the exact opposite.

Explain the opposite gender...

It depends on what you're talking about. Like with school stuff I would agree with you. If you can't explain derivatives or what the Grange was, then you probably aren't going to do well when tested on those. But just because you can't explain abstract mysteries like love or life, doesn't mean you know them well enough. (of course even with the school stuff if you just naturally are bad at explaining things you might still get it enough)
