+249 No religion is better than another, most religions lead to God or some sort of Supreme Being, and if they don't, it leads to a correct path of being, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Buddhism and Taoism do not have a "God".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

is that better?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What about Satanism?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

isnt Satan some sort or Supreme Being for them then?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I suppose. Anyways, pringles.

I have a friend who's Satanist and supposedly helps him be better... He says his brand doesn't actually worship Satan but worship the self. I don't know a lot about it.

Hence why OP said "most religions" and not all. Shinto doesn't have a god, either, I believe.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I commented on this before it was edited. Originally, it said "all."

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ah. Sorry for that, then. Glad it was edited to be more correct.

I agreed with the first 6 words, so I clicked yes. People are entitled to believe whatever they want.

Ok, let me make a religion where my god gives me super powers, everyone goes to heaven, and everyone magically gets a pet koala. Just because I make something up doesn't mean it's true.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The point is that if a religion is true for an individual, or a group of individuals, then it it just as worthy of merit as any other religion.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So, a group of people believing in a new god magically makes that god real?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How do you know any god or gods are or aren't real?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

You just have to write a book about it first.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like... it makes it real for that person, ergo even those of us that dont find it to be true should respect its validity for another person.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

So believing somthing makes it true?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's assuming that any and all religions are equally valid, which although it would be the most convenient case is not necessarily true. The assumption that all roads lead to heaven or that whatever one person believes is fine for them assumes that there either is no real God, or that He doesn't care how you live your life, neither of which have any factual basis. What if there actually is a real God who's not merely a grand "idea" or a way of life, but a real Person? It's worth considering, anyway. It could be the difference between Heaven and Hell (which could be real).

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Wait, it can't be both?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well.. sort of, in a sense, yeah, i think. it is a complicated discussion. this is basically the New Age movement in a nutshell: everyone determines his/her truth, truth is subjective, and no one can determine what is or isnt true for anyone but him/herself.

"If there's only one nation in the sky, shouldn't all passports be valid?" :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

"So believing somthing makes it true?" Really? You could say the same for your religion. It's called faith.
