+164 Imagine what the future will think when they read our newspapers, women with 13 babies, guy keeps women in his basement, war and famine everyday, guy with a horn on his head, strange world it must be, even actors are messed up, wait till they read how our celebrities do things called drugs and commit suicide. Strange world, strange world. amirite?

What are these "newspapers" you speak of?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I would imagine the future would be so fucked up that the odd things now wouldn't even make them have a reaction.

how do you know everything will change by this 'future' you speak of?

What we think of when we read this: http://tweetsofold.com/

You assume drugs will no longer exist and there will be no more war or famine in the future.

Additionally, in the distant future, they'll look upon Christianity and Islam the same way as we look upon Greek Mythology today: an interesting, but absurd, ancient myth.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Probably not. Religion has survived through thousands of years. I don't see why now it suddenly wouldn't.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Religion will likely survive, although my guess is there will be more atheists and agnostics in the future. But I doubt Christianity and Islam will survive; they will likely be replaced by alternative religions.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, what differentiates Christianity and Islam from religions that have died out (such as Greek mythology) is that they have holy books that the worshipers follow. That will probably allow these religions to survive.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm sure that aspect of modern religions will allow them to survive longer, but no religion will last forever. So, I suppose it depends on how far in the future we are speaking of. If I had to take a wild guess, I'd guess that all the popular modern religions would last around another 5,000 years. But I admit that is a wild guess without any evidence.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, no one actually knows if/when a religion will die out so there's really no sense in debating about it.

Long sentence you got there.

This reminds me of the style Steinbeck uses in the in between chapters of The Grapes of Wrath
