+177 Football players are really victimized on websites like these, it's always about how much cooler the male cheerleaders/band nerds are, or what jerks we are. I believe that we deserve some credit for giving them the opportunity to perform, amirite?

They can perform without you. Probably better than they do at games.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's true, but they get to perform more often, and sometimes there are more people there to see it (I don't know how many people go watch their performances)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Actually (for marching band at least) a lot more people see the actual competitions, and often they're people who can fully appreciate the work put into the show and aren't just using the time to get a hot dog. however, of course, I don't know a single band nerd that doesn't love the friday night energy :P

given the opportunity?! we're not there just because youre not on the field, we're there because we entertain people while you sit on your butt and get yelled at. marching is a lot harder than it looks, and i'm not dissing you guys obviously we wouldnt be there if you werent but i'm not a nerd just because i'm in band(: and yeah there are people that come just to watch us. maybe its just my school but some people care about the music we play. oh and we did journey this year for halftime haha it was niceee! look us up... niceville high school eagle pride(: k thanks(;

(Heyheyhey(:): I know, I have plenty friends who are in the band. I just noticed that I haven't seen a post that said anything good about football players. And I didn't really know how else to put it.

What aboot the one about how football players look in jock straps?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh and yeah... ^^^ loving the way you guys look in those uniforms haha ;p football players arent all jerks i'm best friends with some of them... but band is hard too, just putting that out there!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

As much as people may not like to hear it, without football, there would never have been cheerleaders or a marching band in the first place.

I see the point of this post...but aren't football/basketball/whatever players always glorified in the movies? I mean there's dozens of movies starring football players (Facing the Giants, Remember the Titans, The Blind Side to name a few). There's nothing wrong with that, but how many big movies are about band or male cheerleaders?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Bring it on has male cheerleaders. And Fired Up does, too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But those movies don't glorify male cheerleaders, its really just satirical.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

But let's not forget that the lovely George Bush and his father were both male cheerleaders in college!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Drumline is a cool movie about marching band :]

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Okay all you tools need to stop defending the band people in these comments. this was a post to acknowledge football players and you all turned into appreciating band nerds! Give the football players a little recognition here and go kiss the band nerds asses in THEIR posts.

football players are the best! (:

I don't know about any of your schools, but in my high school, there were football players (and cheerleaders) who were part of the band. They performed and concerts and other shows, just not at the games. There isn't exactly a strict, clear cut line with cliques like that.
