I shouldn't have to learn it. I expect it. If a singer doesn't write their own material, then they can only sing, which shouldn't be enough.

I couldn't disagree more, some of the greatest singers wrote barely any songs. Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby only wrote a handful of songs between them, yet are some of the best performers since recording began. If you can sing well then that is definitely enough.

Like Taylor Swift. Even if you don't like her music, you have to at least respect that she writes all of her songs herself, all three albums. Which is pretty amazing for her age.

Thats why I don't bash her. I mean, I don't particularly like her music, but at least she's writing from the heart and doing what she loves. amirite.
