-96 The only reason bands go mainstream is because they're popular, which means they can't be that bad, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the "mainstream" ruins bands actual views and values, thats when they strat doing ot all for the monjey and nothing else.

HI SINNER

See: Ke$ha Nickelback Creed

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Ke$ha is a fad. She's entertaining. The fact that she can entertain such a wide range of people means she must have some value. And Nickelback isn't as bad as everyone says. I think people hate on Nickelback because it's cool or something.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, no. I've heard Nickelback. All of their songs sound the same and they're just....bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

think: those are not the only main stream things

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Never said they were. I was disagreeing with the superlative in the amirite.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

popular= people listen to it= they like it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They don't have to be popular. Some unknown people from Youtube get signed.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i was talking about mainstream

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Only some others are chosen just because, also when they sign the contract lose the ability to use music that the producers think might not be popular, I know someone who got signed but the company wouldn't let them release the music they wanted to, they quit and made their music but aren't as popular

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Popularity doesn't necessarily mean good ... there are way too many idiots in the world ... And in Justin Beiber's case, tween girls.

You don't need to be good to be mainstream. You need to be discovered. You need to appeal to the target audience, and you don't need talent to become mainstream. Talent = good. Mainstream =/= talent.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

People also need to understand that Mainstream =/= talentless. I know all these people who say they hate mainstream things, yet they listen to bands that everyone knows about.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I didn't say that mainstream is talentless. I meant that you don't need to know how to sing, we have computers for that. And you can respect the people who can sing, but most of them don't write their own songs. Where's the talent in that? But of course, there are people who deserve to be popular and are, but nonetheless, artists like Ke$ha are still on top.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I strongly agree with your first sentence. It's just most mainstream artists today lack talent.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, but a LOT of people believe that. And some artists use auto-tune, but not all do. I have a celebrity girl-crush on Beyonce, and if you listen to her live, she sounds the exact same, and she actually writes most of her songs. Taylor Swift writes her own songs (I don't like her, for the record), and many bands that I would consider mainstream because EVERYONE likes them actually write their own songs too. Ke$ha is a whore who needs to just go away already. @1020020 (CarmelFuzzy): It's the artists that people hear about. Also, people hate artists more easily because it's popular to hate popular music nowadays.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's not the reason people hate popular music. They hate it because the artists that use auto-tune and crap are gaining more popularity and money than artists that can actually sing. The worst thing is, we can do very little to change that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are still a lot of artists that can sing and do write their own songs, and the annoying people are those who say that they hate all mainstream/popular music, but then like a band that could very easily be considered popular.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

hating mainstream things does not mean you're going to stop listening to music you really like.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Most mainstream "artists" are just people that have been pushed by some big company, effectively forcing a group or artist into popularity.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Of course they're not *that* bad. But in order to go mainstream, you have to appeal to more people, which means you have to conform. When you make the music people want you to instead of the music that's inside of you, the sound and soul of it gets diluted. It's like...peanutbutter. When you first put the peanutbutter on a piece of bread, it's one giant glob on a tiny portion of the bread. That's like saying all of the real and true talent of a band appealing very strongly for a certain type of people. When you spread out the peanutbutter all over the bread, it's like the band trying to appeal to everybody. In doing so, there's not so much talent in one place, or any place for that matter. It's thin, but a lot of people get some of it. At least, that's my twisted analogy of it.

Hating mainstream bands now is so mainstream,

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I love bands that haven't allowed the mainstream to get to them.

how did this get voted down?? popular=people listen to it= they like it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And not everyone goes mainstream because they're popular. A lot of people go mainstream before they're popular because they have the right producer.
