Ha, or when you ask their opinion on something, and they say it's "interesting".
Which means it sucks, but they don't wanna hurt your feelings.

I'm not really sure what sort of scenario this is referring to. One that comes to mind is:
Person with recently savaged hair: "What do you think of my new haircut?"
Friend: "Well, do YOU like it?"
