+649 Maybe I'm just a geek, but it was a mistake for the directors to leave out the portrait of Phineas Nigellus in the Deathly Hallows because now there's no reason for Snape to know where to have hidden the sword, amirite?

Thought dumbledores portrait told snaps

No, Dumbledore tells him when they are movig Harry, but Phineas is in Hermione's purse as well as the office and hears her mention the Forest of Dean, and then he tells Snape.

THEY DID WHAT.

THIS WAS MY BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THE MOVIE! it's such a small detail, but it drove me crazy the entire time! so glad someone else realized this!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The thing about the Harry Potter movies is that by leaving out minor yet vital details they make the entire series look like it's filled with plot holes when really it's just the directors' fault

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah, you're a geek. lol, so am i. and i was pissed that they left out harry's death scene. but all in all i thought they did a wonderful job, just saying

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I get that they have to leave out some things so the rest of the world, (I mean non geeks), can watch the movie without it being too long, but that was a really important detail and I don't really get how they will make the second part make sense without that.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

yeah like last movie how when harry was supposed to hide the half bloods prince's book under that statue and put rowena ravenclaw's diadem on it but instead him and ginny started making out...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

the stuff they left out in the other books screwed up the 7th. I went to see it with a friend who didnt read the books and she kept asking me "what the hell is he doing with that mirror?!" and "wait- whos getting married?"

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that happened to me too like people who didn't read any of the books are like, "What is that mirror?" I think they should have explained that more

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah. All in all, I'm glad they still put that stuff in there to make THIS movie great, even though there was little explination. Serves them right for leaving things out.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I got pissed when they left out Dumbledor's funeral.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They shouldn't have left out spew either - now how are Ron and Hermione going to get together?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish they hadn't left out the part where Dudley and Harry make up.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They should make two versions of the movie: one for the masses who just want to watch it for fun, and one for the die hard fans of the books and whole deal.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

The biggest budget would be needed for that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When I first read this post I thought it said "maybe i'm just a greek".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's why I always said that if one hasn't read the books, one understands nothing whatsoever from the movies. Looks like just one more action movie.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I wish they had included the part where Harry and Ron have that heart-to-heart talk and Harry explains that he's always loved Hermione as a sister...Now it just seems like their friendship is a lot more shallow-just fighting over Hermione- and Ron seems like just a bad best friend.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They left out so much shit in that movie and the last one, plus they changed half of it. It irritated me so much.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I don't feel as bad, now, for disliking this film. It was done quite well, but for everything they screwed up--just spoils everything... Like what the hell happened at the Lovegood house? The plan Hermione devised was completely messed up--AND WHERE WAS THE EFFING INVISIBILITY CLOAK THE ENTIRE TIME?! Godric's Hollow was utterly DESTROYED. And Ron never told Harry or Hermione about the trace thing on the word "Voldemort." You'd think that'd be included. Or the radio show, Potter Watch, even though that's minor. Basically, I agree with everyone else-- They've change them so they look really mainstream and shallow, and none of the characters or their relationship come across correctly.

oh, where the hell was the Harry/Lupin fight at Grimmuald place? I was looking foward to seeing that. And Harry's just randomly going to get a godson in part two, considering Tonks was so rudley interupted by Mad-Eye when she was about to announce her pregnancy.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

that would've been fantastic. And we'd finally get to see more of Lilly/James than that 15 second clip from SS.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Also they shouldn't have left out the part at Luna Lovegood's dad's house where he says "how many invisibility cloaks do you know that render the user completely invisible" and they realize Harry's invisibility cloak is one of the deathly hallows.
