+239 It's dumb that there's a stigma towards people who do drugs, yet people usually don't make a big deal about alcohol. They both f*ck you up so neither is better/worse than the other, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

nah, i'm pretty positive not only is heroin (or painkillers)more addictive than alcohol, they're also more detrimental to your health.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree

by Anonymous 13 years ago

nonetheless there both still really bad for your body

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well I heard that tobacco is more addictive than heroin, and tobacco seems to be just as socially acceptable as alcohol...

Marijuana > Alcohol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Alcohol is a drug.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I agree with danieljames, marijuana is safer and far less addicting than alcohol.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Marijuana is MUCH less dangerous both to individuals and to society than alcohol. In reference to the post; yes, it's highly hypocritical to condemn drug users while condoning alcohol use, because regardless of individual cases, alcohol kills more people and destroys more lives every year than all illegal drugs COMBINED.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can't help wondering if the only reason alcohol kills more people than illegal drugs would be because it's legal, easier to get, and probably cheaper?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Not really, marijuana is easier for kids to get because its illegal. If it was legal there would be an age limit-probly 21. Alcohol is dangerous because it is flat out poison, a guy from my HS drank a bottle of whiskey really fast. He wasnt breathing 45 minutes later, he died. Marijuana will never kill you, you will never lose control of your body/motor functions like you do with alcohol. A girl at my friends college got raped and didnt even realize it because she was so drunk. If those people were smoking just weed instead of drinking, they would have been ok-and I can say that with utter confidence.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's more dangerous because people are not educated about it. You tell me that that HS boy knew what a bottle of vodka would do to his body.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Okay. Though I, personally, would find alcohol easier to come by, since my family has it around the house, and I don't know who in school I could get weed from. :P Just saying.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It depends on the type/amount of the substance. Like marijuana isn't as bad as alcohol. But i'd say most other drugs are worse than it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Renegade is right, as usual =) Marijuana is completely non-toxic. It is literally impossible to overdose on, and the only health risk it poses is the same one smoking tobacco does- only less so, because tobacco is laced with chemicals to increase how addictive it is, and because very few people smoke 20-40 joints a day, while smoking 1 or 2 packs of cigs a day is common.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Well some people can have an adverse reaction to marijuana, and develop paranoia or schizophrenia. But that is really uncommon.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Smoking is the worst way to intake thc, but smoking marijuana STILL has anti-cancer benefits. So if you smoke a pack a day throw a couple joints in too, you'd only be helping :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Alcohol causes more violent reactions/incidents.. Both hurt the person, but alcohol tends to not only mentally/emotionally, but physially hurt more people. Second-hand alcohol is what I'd call it. Hah.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I completely disagree that marijuana is "okay" to smoke. I mean, really, it's just as bad as smoking, maybe even worse. Theres a reason its illegal in the US....

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lemme know when you can back that up with facts instead of just assuming that the US government is infallible.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There is a reason, just not a health-related one. I heard that some industry didn't like being rivaled by the people who were making ropes out of the hemp plant, so they said that marijuana as bad for people's health, and then it ended up illegal. I've read a couple of articles that all agree on it, I can try to find one... :P http://www.highexistence.com/why-marijuana-is-illegal/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Indeed it is; like, pretty much unheard-of since the days of "Reefer Madness" style propoganda. So rare in fact, that there's some doubt as to whether it was ever an issue. However, even if it is, those allergic-type reactions shouldn't be a reason for it being illegal; many people are deathly allergic to peanut butter, seafood, and Red #5... and we give those people enough credit to have the sense to avoid those things.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Sure, there are reasons, just not the ones you've been taught. You know who contributes the most money to keeping it illegal? Alcohol manufacturers. Marijuana is illegal because when the first federal drug task force was formed in America, states didn't want to contribute money to it and it had severe funding issues. A man named Anslinger(who I would time travel to assassinate, btw) latched on to the idea that this little-known plant coming across the border with Mexican immigrants would be a good tool to scare state governments into helping, so they cooked up this insane scare campaign where they basically stated that marijuana turned people into bloodthirsty, insanely horny monsters that would kill or rape with no remorse... with absolutely no grounds whatsoever. It worked. Since then, no matter how many studies that prove that marijuana is not addictive and that it causes no changes to a person's basic personality structure, our government has to discredit them- ...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

... them- I guess because it would just be too humiliating to admit they were wrong and they lied. Sad, isn't it, that that's all it comes down to in the end. *studies there have been that prove; brain moving faster than thumbs again.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I dislike alcohol just as much as I dislike drugs, but the people who do drugs are not only hurting themselves, but they are breaking the law.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Yeah, but sometimes laws are wrong, and need to be changed. Hence NORML and the huge movement in this country toward ending marijuana prohibition.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

grog is actual more bad for you then heroin or crack no joke they done a full study on it
