+402 You've at least once accidentally mistaken the gas pedal for the brake pedal or vice versa and were surprised by the unexpected opposite reaction of the vehicle, amirite?

Sadly this happened when I took my Driver's Ed Class

I'm in driver's ed this quarter and today I was backing up and a car came out of nowhere behind me and I forgot I was in reverse, hit the gas and was like "why am I going backwards!". thank god for that extra brake pedal the instructor has.

When I was learning to ride a motorbike, turning the handle one way accelerated, and the other way braked. So of course I nearly fell, and instinctively turned the grabbed the handle, turning the accelerator. -_-

So this just got homepaged and I came to comment about my motorbike fail, only to find I'd already it said a year before^. My wording sucked though, so I'll try again. Turning the handle towards you accelerates and turning it away from you brakes. I started falling, so I instinctively grabbed the handle, pulling it towards myself, accelerating and getting a huge fright in the process.

I did that once and I only have my permit, and my mom is very controlling when it comes to driving and thats the only time she had ever driven with me.

This happened quite a bit last year when I was learning to drive!

I've done that... which is why I didn't get too angry when a woman did it while sitting behind me at the stoplight and rammed into my car.
