+380 Certain Pokemon that have genders shouldn't, (geo-DUDE comes to mind) amirite?

Those poor male jigglypuffs

Ahaha. I always refrain from catching Pokemon of a certain gender. Like a female Machoke. Or a male Hoppip.

There's a reason. In the first three games (Red, Blue (Green in Japan), and Yellow) Pokemon didn't have genders. The game designers never planned on adding genders. But in the next three (Gold, Silver, and Crystal), genders were added. They decided that instead of causing confusion by changing names to fit with genders, they kept them as is, such as Geodude and Mr. Mime.

But what about Chansey? Or Kangaskhan? That doesn't make any sense.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What doesn't make sense? Chansey, Kangaskhan, and Jynx (and there or more) that are single genders only.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh nevermind I thought you meant that they created both male and female versions of those Pokemon to not cause any confusion. My bad.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But they could have just made all Geodudes and Mr. Mimes male.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

How would they breed? Unless....Ditto....I never understood that :/

by Anonymous 13 years ago

lmao.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Like I said, they didn't want to have confusion by making them all males...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Hahahaha poor male jynx...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Jynx are always female.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Oh, my bad, sorry. I'm not THAT big of a pokemon fan to know :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Also, poor male clefairy... (Ok, I SWEAR I've got this one right, I caught a boy one before I'm positive)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Roselia is another Pokemon.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

There are plenty.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I just call it Geodudette...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I always nicknamed my girl Geodudes "Geodudette".

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Poor male Gardevoirs. . .

Wow everyone on here is so busy naming other gender-specific Pokemon that nobody ever noticed that its based off of GEODE, a type of rock/gem thing, and it just flowed so smoothly into Geodude because they needed a clever name and it's one of the more clever ones since everybody focuses on the "dude" part, not the "geode"
