+269 We haven't fought a war on U.S soil in over a century. Americans are so quick to pull the war trigger partly because they haven't experienced first hand the traumatizing and corrupting effects of war and the Media really waters down the ugly parts. amirite?

9/11 wasnt traumatizing enough?!

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I said war. Not terrorist attack.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

oh i understand conpletely what you said, and I'm sorry but what's the difference? War= a lot of people get killed, terrorist attack= a lot of people get killed. Just because it's not on American soil doesn't mean people aren't dying over there for their country.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuKBDHWDgBo I never said people aren't dying out there for the military industrial complex. There is a difference between watching a building blow up on T.V and having first hand experience of somebody killing your family in front of your eyes and then torturing you for information. Children going astray without their families and being sexually abused by strangers, having an entire city evaporated in mere seconds from a bomb, people being publicly decapitated to set an example, etc.... I am not saying we are doing that, but that is the true face of war. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf1CDmn8q0M&feature=related

A terrorist attack is an isolated incident. A war is like day-to-day life. Think about it in terms of Chinese water torture. Sure, one drip is annoying, but its the three hundred that follow it and the dread that precedes each one that finally drives you insane.

I was actually debating this in class the other day, everyone disagreed with me because they refuse to think of America as anything but glorious. Pssh..

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Our glory days are long gone, we are slipping into darkness and massive corruption.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Believe me, compared to our history, thing'll only get better. You think we had some glorious, noble history? You kid yourself.

Weren't the founding Fathers worried that the USA would end up more concerned with satisfaction than liberty, like some other countries with a similar premise did?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Our founding fathers would tear the Government a new asshole if they were alive!

USA! USA! USA!

"Americans are so quick to pull the war trigger partly because they haven't experienced first hand the traumatizing and corrupting effects of war". Just no. First of all, we weren't quick to "pull the trigger". We experienced a terrorist attack. That's a damn good enough reason to initiate war. Second of all, we're 200 years old. No shit we haven't experienced war on our own terrain as much as countries that have existed for THOUSANDS of years have. Obviously there is a difference between watching a building blow up on TV and experiencing it personally. However you act as though the countries weren't corrupt before we arrived. Plenty of people feel the pain of war when they lose loved ones to it. Just because it isn't on our soil doesn't mean were not affected by it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is still a fact and it is a factor of why we do the things we do. Also, how old a country is doesn't have anything to do with having had war on your soil within the past century, any country new or old can have war on their soil. So this isn't like the older you are the more wars on your soil you are supposed to have. Now don't give me that bullshit about the leaders being corrupt, we pick our fights based on our personal interests and not for "Freedom and Democracy", We're pals with Communist China and their Oligarchy regime. Our own government described Russia as a "Mafia". We get our oil from Middle Eastern corrupt governments in Saudi Arabia. If it's about corruption why don't you take a look at your own government? Now those guys are corrupt too! Lets start with ours THEN we can worry about the ones overseas! Yes we are affected but we're not getting shot, bombed or looted or losing our possessions. etc...

9/11 was perfect for Bush. A reason to get idiot Americans to support an invasion of Iraq (which had no direct ties to 911 and omg! no WMDs). Bush has been called out on his blatant lies (which has resulted in the death of thousands of Iraqi civilians and the poor American youth who just wanna do their country good) he put forth in his newly released book. I know ignorance is bliss, but get your head outta your ass.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Bliss youre being kind of ignorant. If you feel like you do, then go do something about it. And quit trying to convince others of your opinoin when you can't back anything up except you basically saying "because I said so". No offense

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and what would you like the US to do about corrupt leaders? lock ourselves away like N. Korea? Really doesn't seem like an option

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Quit having a political argument on amirite. & quit being such a critical little pussy & leave the country
