Dodgeball was outlawed in my school district because too many people broke their noses.

One of the many benefits of a private school.

This is ridiculous. My Country plays Dodgeball all of the time. I was in my reading class, and this is what we discussed. The ban of dodgeball. This is blasphemous. We read about this school, that had banned all physical contact. That means no tag, no duck duck goose, and no contact of any kind. That also means no hugging, or high-fiving. The principle of the school says that she wants a completely safe environment for her class, so they can be safe in the real world. Man... This world has come to a too-safe environment for children, and it's not teaching them anything about the real world. So these people need to get a grip on the real world, so they can prepare these children for the real world. Because it's not like everything's going to be like, "Oh hey, you accidentally brushed up against my shoulder, I'm reporting you!" Sometimes I just want to go up to a teacher who does this to her school, and give her a piece of my mind...

We used big, rubber kickballs. That mess HURT! But it made us damn good at dodgeball (:

That's absolutely riduculous! But I've heard of other schools (in the U.S.) banning hugging. If my school did that, I would hug my friends WAY more out of protest. My old elementary school used to have the "Olympics" every year. We would miss a whole day of school and do athletic competitions (races, jump rope, etc) kinda like a field day. Then they cancelled it because annoying parents complained because their kids weren't winning! Like how does that prepare kids for real life?

The school that bans all physical contact is somewhere in phoenix. But anyway, they thought that people who weren't as strong as the "stronger" kids in school had a disadvantage, and they said that they wanted everyone to win. Why would someone do this? If this keeps going on, people will resort to games like- Duck, duck, duck- A teacher walks around, just patting the children's heads Swedish Baseball- The students freely walk around the bases, getting an occasional back-massage from another student. Some of these teachers need to learn life isn't all about winning and losing.

They banned hugging at my old middle school. But at my high school they really don't care. We use basketballs and volleyballs for dodgeball. Bouncy balls are too "expensive."

why is it sad to have reading in 9th grade? I have it too. We have a reading final test why not have a reading class to study for it?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They don't even let us play dodgeball.

Some people refer to english/literature as reading. There's no reason to be harsh, you know what he meant.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

My school banned hugging. Yet we have signs that say "Hugs not drugs" so everyone protests by hugging, making out, etc.

In the world now there are no winners anymore because if you do win you're a Jerk

Wow. Just... wow. My school has student-run TOURNAMENTS of Dodgeball, uniforms, pre-formed teams, refs and all. The only way we could make it any better was if there were pyrotechnics involved. I pity you people.

In my elementary school we had these extremely soft balls and when we played dodgeball...we couldn't even throw the ball. We had to roll it. .-.

its a hyperbole i think thats the word.. idk its an exaggeration

by Anonymous 13 years ago

In my gym class, we use 5 balls for dodgeball for 60 students and you have to roll it :( i had more fun using the styrofoam balls in elementary school

I got a black eye playing dodge ball in grade school. It hurt like a bitch, but the injuries made awesome stories to tell and the game much more fun.

Reading is babyish, it's English/Language Arts since the 7th grade for me.

My old school had a game called "nationball" which is almost the same as dodgeball, but we played with two volleyballs and when you got out, you sttod behind the other team and tried to hit them from there. A lot better than it is now

by Anonymous 13 years ago

we still play with the styrofoam balls but man they always hurt like a bitch when you're hit in the face or butt!

Not like nerf kind of styofoam, like litterally you put close one hand around the ball and completely squish it.
