-164 Vegetarians who eat veggie burgers and stuff are a little hypocritical. If they find the murder of animals appalling, shouldn't try to recreate its results in any way, amirite?

I don't understand how you came to that conclusion at all.

Thats bullshit. It's about 1 difference: Unlike with hamburgers, no animals have to be killed to make a veggie burger. It's not recreating the result of murder, it's recreating the taste of meat in a product that can be made without having to kill an animal. Vegeterians abstain from eating meat not because they don't like the taste of it, but purely cause they don't want an animal to be killed for their meal.

Not to mention, veggie "meats" are high in protein. I'm not sure how they came to the conclusion that it's hypocritical.

Although the torture and slaughter of animals is a part of why I'm happy to be a vegetarian, I was raised vegetarian and the reason I never decided to eat meat is because of how fucking nasty it seems to eat all that blood and muscle.....veggie burgers "and stuff" are tasty but I don't eat as many of them as meat eaters do of hamburgers, and animal flesh

IT'S NOT LIKE WE MAKE FAKE SHAPED ANIMALS FILLED WITH RED GOO AND PRETEND TO KILL THEM AND THEN SHAPE THE BODY INTO PATTIES...THAT WOULD BE SICK..BUT YOU KNOW WHATS EVEN SICKER? PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO ACTUALLY INGEST ANIMALS AND THEN TALK ABOUT VEGETARIANS HAVING A PROBLEM BECAUSE WE EAT PROTEIN.

in a vegiburger no animals were ruthlessly MURDERED. It's not hypocritical... i mean seriously. It's a soy based product, with the taste of meat, while not hurting any animals. as humans we have the natural craving for that taste since we are omnivores, naturally. unless you are also a vegetarian, you have NO room to talk, since you obviously don't understand the concept, which is DON'T KILL ANIMALS FOR FOOD. it would by HYPOCRITICAL if they still DID that but just didn't EAT it. having a soy based product is not.

Oh you bloodthirsty, evil vegetarians, you

Think of all the vegetables you killed for that salad!!!

To each his own.

Naaaaaah.

I'm a vegetarian. The only reason I don't eat meat now is because I get really sick from it. By eating veggies burgers and veggie dogs, I don't feel like I'm missing out QUITE as much as if I weren't to eat any soy products. Plus, it's a good way to get the much needed protein in your diet.

you are so dumb you are really dumb for real

I think what OP is saying is when you go to a fast food joint and order a veggie burger, your supporting a place that cooks meat as well, which supports meat packing plants, which supports feed lots, which supports killing animals.

This could be worded far better. As a vegetarian, I have come across my share of veggie substitutes for meat - Tofurkey, chik'n nuggets, "riblets," etc. The stuff that is actually shaped and textured to look like real meat is what I find hypocrisy in. I know it has no actual meat in it, but it is still created to be a near-identical substitute. In my opinion, "chik'n breasts" and the like should only be used as weaning tools for transitioning omnivores. There should be some difference in taste as well - otherwise, how would you be able to tell the difference?

The point isn't to get off the texture or taste, it's to stop killing animals for food. If no animals were killed in making the veggie substitutes, then how is it hypocritical? I mean being a vegetarian isn't because you hate meat, or you don't like the taste, at least for me, it's because you feel guilty knowing that an innocent, living being was murder for the purpose of your "survival", when you can survive perfectly fine without it. I don't know if your logic is simply lost to me, or if I am correct in saying that, but I disagree.
