Does anyone seriously go to a hair stylist to just get half of an inch cut off?

Can't you just do it yourself or get a friend to do it for you?

And there's always the dumb client that doesn't know what half an inch is. I've had numerous complaints (in my shop, not just to myself) about this, and I keep a ruler in my kit just for this. More often than not, the hairstylist did cut half an inch, the client usually means a quarter inch when they say half. At least in my experience.

And also, many people say "half an inch" and also say "just to get the ends off."
So. They take the ends off, which normally are a lot more than you think.

exactly. I think people just like complaining and blaming things on anyone else. Which is why I'm glad I'm my own boss. If someone comes to me acting like they know more about my career than me, peace the fuck out! There's a reason corrective coloring/styling is such a good business too, people think its easy to 'just trim it' or whatever else.

Sometimes, when people get their hair cut, the stylist washes it first and when you're hair is wet, it's a little longer. So when they cut it, it looks fine, but when it dries and gets shorter, it looks like they cut off a lot.
