+561 If you could master the skill of lucid dreaming, your life would be more entertaining while you were asleep than if you were awake, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i already have the skill of lucid dreaming, but my lucid dreams last like 5 seconds so I rarely get to do anything.

Sometimes I have lucid dreams, but my sense of gravity keeps me grounded. I had this dream that Will Smith was trying to teach me how to fly but all I could do was jump really high and then fall back down haha.

I had a lucid dream for like five seconds once. I realized that I was dreaming and so I jumped in the air hoping that I would be able to fly, but I couldn't. Another time I was at my school and the Zombie Apocalypse was beginning, and I needed a weapon and so I realized I was dreaming and tried to make a gun appear out of thin air, but nothing happened. I found one five minutes after that though.

ive lucid dreamt before, but not for long, and it comes and goes but it is awesome.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I'm jealous! I've tried to do it before, but it's just impossible. I guess some things can't even be done IN dreams :(

by Anonymous 13 years ago

its achievable, you will be able to sometime in your life.

I'm waiting until the summer when I have more free time and less things to worry about to try to master lucid dreaming. When and if I can, I'm going to dream up some freaking awesome stuff.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It's overrated.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've mastered it after a week of practice. It's kind of hard at first but now it's simple. I wish I slept more than 5 hours a night...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That's why I'll wait until the summer to try it more, because I usually end up with 10 or 12 hours of sleep sometimes in the summer.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I still have the same amount of sleep XD it's how you fall asleep that affects your dreaming.

How weird! I was just googling how to lucid dream. O_o I really, really want to do it, but I don't know how. How does it feel like?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've only had brief lucid dreams. I know that when I realize I'm dreaming, I think I can do whatever I want. Until I do the dumb thing and try to fly but end up back in regular dream mode.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

But how does that differ from daydreaming?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

it's awesome, you can do whatever you want in it too. this is how I learned. First, keep a dream journal and record your dreams in it. As soon as you wake up, write down as much of the dream you can remember. this increases dream recall so you can remember if you had a lucid dream or not. Also, do reality checks through-out the day. reality checks are quick and easy to do and if you do them enough, you might end up doing them in your dream. For my reality check, I look at my hands and count my fingers. in a dream, I won't have 5 fingers on my hand, instead I usually have 6-8 fingers on one hand, so if I ever count a different number than 5, I know I'm dreaming. other reality checks you can do are jumping in the air and seeing if you fly, look at something you can read, turn away, then look back at it. if it changed, you're dreaming, and push your hand on a wall. in a dream your hand will go through the wall. Also, try to think about lucid dreaming a lot and it helps

by Anonymous 13 years ago

and it helps if you look it up or read about it or think about it before you go to bed. before you go to bed each night, say to yourself, "I'm going to have a lucid dream tonight". That might help. so that's how I learned how to do it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

And how long would you say your lucid dreams usually last?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

mine usually last like a minute, but once in a while I have a long one.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Thanks! It feels weird doing reality checks, but I think it's going to be worth it.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

or you could get yourself a totem instead

by Anonymous 13 years ago

how the fuck are those things supposed to work anyways? I don't get it

by Anonymous 13 years ago

well when you're dreaming the totem behaves differently than it does when you are awake, so you can tell the difference between reality and your dreams. For example, Cobb's totem is the top, and when he's dreaming the top never topples, something that could never happen in reality

I had a dream where Mariska Hargitay was chasing me. Best dream ever.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Aside from the increased chance of sleep paralysis, yes.

My first lucid dream that I remember was when I was around 8, but it really wasn't good. Something bad had happened in my house (I dunno what) so I ran outside to get away from it. I then realised I was dreaming, but I wanted to stop dreaming to get away from the feeling so I started banging my head against the pavement. Didn't really work though. Guess it was a lucid nightmare.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It is definitely amazing. =) I learned when I was much younger, because my mom was all into that stuff and I read her books. I've nailed pretty much every single person I've ever wanted to- in my dreams LOL

by Anonymous 13 years ago

... I now have a new way to vent out my angst.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Almost all of mine are but I kinda get depressed in the mornings when I wake up though :)

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Haha I just did lucid dreaming as my topic for a core presentation grade. It's so juicy and full of philosophical ideals that I almost got a perfect score. =] I'd really love to learn how to do it routinely, it's only happened to me once.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Whenever I realize I'm in a dream, I almost always wake up right after. Anyway, best dream I remember having was I was a wizard and could do pretty much anything with a wave of my wand. I could also summon anything to me wandlessly. Funny thing was, when I was using my wand, I just said what I wanted to happen in plain english, but when I wanted to summon something, I said "Accio (object)" But anyway, yeah, it was pretty awesome.

I've been wanting to lucid dream forever... There was one time I either had a lucid dream or had a dream I was lucid dreaming...it was confusing

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I can lucid dream and im quit young. I had no idea what it was, and none of my friends knew what i was talking about. So i looked up on google "how come when i dream, im still awake and now im dreaming?" or something like that and it was "LUCID DREAMING" and i was like awesome!!! haha

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I was gonna say you all could borrow my books on it, but then i remembered this is the internet xD Good luck to all aspiring lucid dreamers, its the bees knees when you master it :D

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I've always been able to do it.
