That's because your eyes are moist and when you leave them out they don't have that moisture And they shrivel up

They don't die. I once rubbed my eye and accidentally pushed it out, and it got dust on it and I had no solution with me, so a few hours later I put it in some solution and left it there to soak and the next morning it was good as new. And it's not weird because eyes aren't dry and the air is.
