why don't you people agree? lighting is the thing that can kill you. thunder just lets you know that it happened. are you more scared of the newspaper or the war?

Because it's like asking, "What's scarier, hearing a bus about to hit you or seeing it about to plow into you?" It's the same thing, you're about to be hit by a bus, the only difference is how you're warned by it...

Actually, seeing as how thunder comes AFTER lightning (keep in mind light travels much faster than sound) your analogy is logically flawed. It really would be like knowing you are about to be hit by a bus versus hearing the bus pass you.

I don't agree simply because I'm an astraphiliac. I love lightning. a bit too much. And in most cases, the lightning strike won't necessarily kill you, especially in well-developed countries where you can get medical care fast.
