Have I stumbled on a century-old post here? In my considerable experience (sorry, can’t elaborate here) boys/girls discover their penis/clitoris as soon as the nappies come off. A boy’s hands fall naturally on his penis, and he loves to play with it constantly throughout his childhood but usually never experiences an orgasm. When the rush of testosterone hits at puberty, the constant erections demand his attention and his first orgasm usually accompanies his first ejaculation. The clitoris is not quite as accessible as the penis, and is not visible to the girl. But the greater concentration of nerves in the clitoris compared to a penis, leads to most girls discovering it early on. Once discovered, it is difficult to ignore, but many girls are discouraged from enjoying the pleasurable sensation they get from pressing on it or rubbing it by their mother. The temptation is normally too much however, and many girls experience their first orgasm by the age of around 5. At this age their orgasm isn’t overwhelmingly powerful, but simply a lovely tingly feeling which helps them relax into sleep. Puberty arrives earlier for girls, and when they make the connection between their clitoris and sex with boys, they learn to enhance their orgasms to supplement their sexual fantasies. Any girl who enters puberty without already being fully aware of her clitoris & it’s potential for pleasure has probably been strongly discouraged from touching herself by overbearing parents whose attitude has caused as much harm to their child as many cases of child abuse!
