+147 WE are the origins of war: not history's forces, nor the times, nor justice, nor the lack of it, nor causes, nor religions, nor ideas, nor kinds of government, nor any other thing. We are the killers. We breed war. We carry it like syphilis inside. Dead bodies lie rotting in field and stream because the living ones are rotten, amirite?

That reminds me of that matrix quote about people being a virus

From what I take out of this, you're just saying human beings are naturally violent and war-hungry in an eloquent way. While this does sound nice to the ears, I disagree about the inherent violence part.

I agree that you need people to have wars, but the causes are the ideas behind them - religion, justice or lack there of, governments, alliances, etc. We alone possess the thought capability (excluding aliens) to wage war in any traditional sense of the word to my knowledge. If all it took was to be alive, I doubt we would be the only animals doing it.

I would have taken you so much more seriously if you hadn't included aliens in that thought.

As a Private for the US Army, I agree.
