You feel smart when you figure out a plot twist before the characters in the book or show do, amirite?

You shouldn't... you know more than the characters in the book or show. It's kind of expected, due to the fact that you have information that the characters don't, you would figure it out... quicker.

why...the ellipses...

Because....

Sometimes it can be nearly impossible though, and then I would be really impressed. Like, if you could figure out Murder on the Orient Express or And Then There Were None, I would applaud you. A lot of good mystery novels have twists that can be figured out, but it's fucking hard.

I have no idea what And Then There Were None is, but I'm going to give it a shot...
People are killed. And then there are none.
How did I do? :D
by Anonymous13 years ago
yes, but WHO KILLED THE PEOPLE! IT MUST OF BEEN ONE OF THE ORIGINAL 10!
It's another Agatha Christie
by Anonymous13 years ago
you would have to be magical to figure out who the killer was in And Then There Were None.

Meh, I guess

it sucks when your friend figures it out before you and yells it out loud.
Somewhere in the middle of Sixth Sense my friend screamed "OMG HE'S DEAD!"
Not cool.

All the Dan Brown books are like this. He makes it the same character who ends up being the evil one in every one of his books I've read.

Depends on how it's written, and how hard it is to figure out. If I only manage to figure it out shortly before the reveal, or things happen that keep making me doubt my earlier guesses, then I feel kind of excited when I'm right. When I figure out a major twist in the first few pages/chapters/episodes and it isn't actually revealed until much later I'm usually just saying "I ALREADY FREAKING KNOW. I'VE KNOWN FOR AGES. GET ON WITH IT, NARRATIVE!"
