+287 In 100 years posterity will look back and see the anti-gay rights protesters as biased and hateful just like we look back and see the KKK as biased and hateful, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

eh... to an extent, but it's not like there are gay slaves...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

the KKK still exists

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I can't take anyone who uses the word "posterity" in a serious context seriously.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That just made me giggle.

Gay rights protesters aren't burning crosses and lynching gays.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes but disrespecting them and refusing to give them rights is still wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The protesters I know of (with the exclusion of Westboro Baptist) aren't as extreme as the KKK. Though they do protest, I think equating them to the KKK is a bit unfair.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

If only anti-gay people were as brutal, that would be awesome! =D Ever consider the fact that the KKK had reason to form? Why do you think it existed? Hmmm..... Just a thought.

Back then, not many people believed what the KKK was doing was wrong, everyone was so used to blacks not having rights. The difference now is that it's a small percentage of the population that even believes it's right. To clear things up, now AND then there is only a small percentage actually DOING the act, but back then more people supported it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

A small percentage may be so openly full of hate, but every time a gay rights vote comes around it's clear who the majority is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm not talking about gay right votes I'm talking about hatred. Not that many people actually hate gays now, but most people hated blacks back around the KKK era.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I think not wanting somebody to have rights is a form of hatred, besides the KKK was against gays too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i see what you mean. although the KKK and people taking away gay rights are different, still. We shouldnt want to take away anyones rights. No matter what race or sexual orientation everyone should still have the same rights. wooo!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure they're biased and hateful now

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Except that black people basically had no rights and gay people can do anything but marry.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

...or be open about who they are in a public school without getting harassed at the least, shot at the worst.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That has nothing to do with their rights. And black people are still discriminated against as well so fuck that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

The right to be who they are. And yes, black people are discriminated against, but at this point not as badly as gays. If politician were to openly say that they were against blacks, it would be national news and he or she would be made an example of shitty racists everywhere, whereas if a politician says they're against gays they're generally made governor.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm pretty sure that gay people aren't segregated into different schools and other public facilities, and they can sit wherever they want on a bus. Blacks and Native Americans had it MUCH worse, and it's kinda offensive that you would even compare what those groups went to compared to what gays go through now (they face a lot of judgement, true, but they don't have it that bad)

While what you said is true for California and New England, it's not true everywhere. Given a choice between being a slave in America in 1750 or being a homosexual in Uganda today, I'd much rather be a slave.
