+477 Itunes should let you re-download songs once you've bought them when your computer crashes or something, amirite?

My laptop is about to explode and I've bought a crapload of songs... I'm terrified when the day comes.

Put the songs on a disk or something to back them up.

I thought Apple prevented you from being able to do that?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Nope. You can burn the songs onto a cd so that you don't lose them if your computer crashes or something happens.

pod to pc, it takes the song from your ipod and loads them onto itunes http://pod-to-pc.software.en.so...FUnt7Qod7z_7Zw

Apparently, if your computer does crash, you get one "get out of jail free" card from Apple. If you contact them and explain what happened, they'll restore your library, but just the one time. Unless you illegally download EVERYTHING. Then you're screwed.

One time all of my songs disappeared so we contacted iTunes and got them all back. Apparently there's a list somewhere of all the songs, videos, etc. that you've bought from iTunes. They'll give it all back. But if you download them illegally.....then just do a backup thing.

Stupid people should learn to backup data. Also, they should learn not to buy an ipod.

My computer crashed and I haven't plugged my iPod in since because I'll lose 500 songs and a lot of apps too /:

In the settings on iTunes I change it to not autosync when I plug my iPod in. That way I never lose my things and you can get songs off of multiple iTunes accounts without losing your own(:

When I plug my iPod into my computer (all my music is on my dad's computer) it says something like "blah blah blah transfer purchases". So maybe you can put all your songs from your iPod back on your computer?

Just fill out this form http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html saying your computer crashed and you'd like for them to requeue your music and movies. When they reply saying they did so, you'll just have to go to iTunes, click "Store" at the top of your screen and then "Check for available downloads…" and give it a second. It'll take anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours to redownload, depending on the speed of your Internet and how many files are being redownloaded. (posted by borhos222)

And they wonder why so many people pirate their music...
