+321 Harry Potter Movies 1 & 2 are the only movies(out of the series) that truly captured the magic and essence of the books. amirite?

These seem like the brightest film, from the 3rd and on, they just became darker and darker. I'm hoping that the epilogue in DH part 2 will have that grey filter lifted and it will seem as magical as the first 2 films.

I think the Chamber of Secrets was waay darker than the prisoner of azkaban

Really? I always thought that everything seemed grayer with Sirius Black on the loose (before Harry knew he was innocent).

One and two are somehow...more magical? And I agree with ^^. From then on it gets somehow scarier and darker (although still great). I guess it's a technique because Harry Potter was growing up so as each film progressed, they made the general atmosphere more mature.

2nd was the best movie out of them, although I have high hopes for 7pt2

Richard Harris. That is all :D

I think as the books progress, they become darker and darker. I think the films capture this. I mean, I love the magic and the vibe from the first two. But how can you keep that innocence and magic when the books become so much more dark and deep? I feel like as the books continue they become more character oriented, like how the characters FEEL and there inner struggles, not the school or setting as a whole. I feel like the bright and cheery vibe of the first two wouldn't suit the latest movies. I like the focus directed more on the characters and their personal battles. Though I do agree, I really enjoy the magicy feel of the first two. :)

I still agree with what I posted, but I can understand what you mean. as you get older nobody is as innocent as they were. but still, movies 1 & 2 were my favorites.

I wish the same could be said for the acting.

I know what you mean. I love the quirky little objects and terms you learn about in the first two. I suppose having loads more in the other books would firstly be overkill, and secondly not make sense, as Harry couldn't get to his final years without knowing about all the magic objects, events etc., in the same way we pretty much know all about our schools after a couple of years.

richard harris is what made one and two good!! daniel radcliffe and emma watson couldn't act very well for the first 6. but i think the acting got much better in part 1 of deathly hallows. but it still somehow lost the magic

3 did it the best.

I thought the 4th was really well done (minus the Yule Ball - cheesy and too much of it). And I really liked 7P1, but that may be just me.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I loved 7P1 too haha. It didn't have the cheery atmosphere but other than the Harry/Hermione scene where they dance(that bugged me) and the stuff they left out, it was well done.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Me too, but I, for one, loved the yule ball :D

1,2, and 3 I think... they're so much happier and you feel their excitement as they learn. Also props to the first director. I mean, he had to cast everyone, and figure out the set and everything and I think he did a good job starting from scratch.

It's because the actor for Dumbledore changed after Chamber of Secrets since the original one died after the second film.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Definately! I absolutely loved the original dumbledore, I think he was the perfect image of the dumbledore i invisioned in my head whenever I read the books. As the movies went on Dumbledore lost his quirkiness and his kindness i think.

hogwarts itself was magical in the first two movies. it was bright, and happy, and the pictures moved and talked. and then in PoA Hogwarts lost the brightness. I understand it was symbolic of the growing danger outside the school, but when I was reading the books I always liked that Hogwarts felt like a warm and cheery home, and I feel like it should have been kept that way.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I 100% agree with you on this. and that's kinda what i was talking about when I wrote the post. It was just..magical and beautiful and exciting. like i wanted it to be MY home. it lost it's magic after perhaps the 3rd movie i think.

Well yea they were the shortest books so the plot got more air time, you try squeezing a 1000 pages into 2 hours, why do you think they made deathly hollows into two parts...its called THINKING people. Learn to embrace it.

It's like how in the book "The Goblet Of Fire" when Dumbledore was asking Harry about putting his name in the goblet, he was all calm and serene. But in the movie it looked like he was having a seizure and foaming at the mouth.
