+171 Why is it that the unpopular underdog always triumphs in the movies? Why can't they let the airhead blond cheerleader win for once, amirite?

Simply put, letting the underdog lose doesn't make for a good story. Folks these days generally look for an uplifting, "happily-ever-after" sort of tale. The "airhead blond cheerleader" is generally portrayed as a villain, breaking the unwritten rule that good must triumph over evil. Yes, that isn't the way things are in the real world (as a current high school student I will tell you that the airhead blond cheerleader usually does win), but it doesn't work in the world of drama.

I think that the movies are always very good and they should make it how they want it are you the director I don't think so..... And the airhead blonde cheerleader is very afensive because I am a blonde so thank uou for that rude comment to me and all of the blondes on the world..... This story was stupid

Um, no it's not offensive. Because nobody's saying that all blondes are airheads/cheerleaders, or that all airhead cheerleaders are blonde. Just that airhead blonde cheerleaders do exist.

you misspelled offensive and you had a typo when you typed you....just thought i'd let you know and that you kind of proved the point about blondes...sorry

Legally Blonde?

Because it's not note-worthy. Movies try to tap into the imagination and show us what can be done in extraordinary situations. I'm sure the would-be underdogs are looking at reality and wondering why they can't win every once in a while.

Because then it's just real life, why even make a movie about it?

because they win in real life
