What kind of a mindfuck would it be if neither evolution nor creationism was the truth, amirite?

Spontaneous generation?

How many times do I have to say that evolution and creationism don't conflict?
by Anonymous13 years ago
It DOES conflict.
Creationism - God created everything some thousand years ago.
Evolution - All life came from a single cell billions of years ago.
And don't give me that "God created that cell" bullshit, because thats not actually creationism.

The Bible's time periods have been accepted as false. How the hell were Biblical authors supposed to know how long ago the Earth was created?
by Anonymous13 years ago
The human race was started by time travel.
That would be awesome.

Evolution* could have been an act of God.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not the God of the Bible.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Creation* not creationism.

your username is supposed to be referencing the office, right? well the name of the band in the show was scranton-i-city, not scranton-city.
that's always bothered me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I know that. And, as ThatOneNut pointed out, it's actually Scrantonicity2
But yes. I know that.

These two ideas are not opposite sides of the same coin. Creationism is a belief based on nothing but faith that has no room for any kind of change regardless of the discovery of new knowledge, and Evolution is a theory with supporting evidence that could be adapted or even completely changed depending on scientific discovery. Saying you "believe" in evolution isn't the same as saying you "believe" in a god, because the former would change and the latter would deny if proven wrong.

I like to think that for something that exists forever, a day can be as long as a million years or as short as a second. By that thought, my own, very own lil' thought, the whole 'God created everything in 7 days' is a matter of perspective. Why couldn't a day for God be a couple of million years? I'm not sure where this fits within this evolutionism vs. creationism conflict, but I'm happy with this self-formulated truth.
On another note: Dear reader of this comment, (atheist, theist or agnostic, I don't care) I wish you a (early/belated) Happy New Year!

Happy year to you too XD
