+104 Why does everyone make a big deal about the New Year? I mean, its just like any other day, amirite?

It's a perfectly good excuse for mature adults to get drunk

I agree.

THANK YOU, OP.

No problem!(:

So is Christmas. And your birthday. And all holidays.

Those are all symbolic or religious. There's nothing symbolic about new year's (not to me, anyway), unless your birthday just so happens to rest on December 31 or January 1.

It's the start of a whole new year, it symbolises a new beginning for some, therefore they make resolutions to become better people. Plus it is a celebration for the world the same way you celebrate your birthday. It's not like any other day, its not everyday that the year increases.

Exactly, I mean I get that it's important to some people but I could really care less

I don't make a big party deal out of the New Year, but it's cool to think you've made it through another year. I see it as an opportunity for a change.

Every day is an opportunity for change.
